Title: 2018 NFL Season
Post by: planman on February 27, 2018, 10:05:48 AM
It's the offseason motherfuckers which means it's time for a new thread!

https://deadspin.com/the-vikings-are-clearing-the-deck-of-quarterbacks-to-go-1823352889
Being a Vikings fan my whole life, I've come to terms with the fact that I'm never going to understand what the fuck the front office is ever doing. We absolutely are NOT going to get Kirk Cousins. It will not happen.

Fitzpatrick threw 21/28 417 yards and 4 touchdowns today. Why the fuck couldn’t he play that good with the jets?

That Vikings defense looks heavy man, I have the Rams winning the NFC (yes I’m on crazy pills, that D is stacked though.....), however Vikings with Cousins could do damage... i mean look what they did with Keenum... Eagles/Rams/Vikes

The Texans have lots of work to do... sigh so annoying. O’Brien calls the same 5 fucking plays ..

^I can’t believe they missed that FG. They had a win handed to them on a silver platter and still fucked it up.  Guess that free beer is going to have to stay cold just for a little bit longer.

We did everything we were supposed to in the offseason except fix our o line, which, you know, was our main fucking problem last year. We could've drafted someone but I don't think Zim's gonna rest until our roster is entirely DBs. I literally turned on the Vikings game and the first play I saw of the year was Cousins getting sacked. Just don't be surprised if/when someone's subpar defensive line blows through our paper mache offensive line and literally snaps our $84 million QB in half.

The Bears were spineless in the second half. They had so many opportunities to end that game and they blew it. I liked what I saw in the first half, I hope they learn from this and win like 8-10 games. Kahlil Mack is awesome.

Fitzpatrick threw 21/28 417 yards and 4 touchdowns today. Why the fuck couldn’t he play that good with the jets?

He always plays really well one game then blows it the next game. He had a few huge games with the Jets and then threw like 3 interceptions in the 4th quarter in the last game of the year to seal missing the playoffs if i remember right.

Been a Raiders fan my entire long ass life but this season is my farewell tour with them, hope they manage to give the people of Oakland one last hurrah before they split town, again.

I put up with a lot of bullshit over the years but I will not root for any Las Vegas fucking Raiders, I just will not.

Also been steadily losing interest in the NFL for years now and this is a perfect opportunity for me to get out, I will still follow football but it might be more fun to just observe in general instead of having a fanatical interest in one specific team.

Also FUCK the Raiders for giving Jon Gruden 100 million dollars but tell arguably the best defensive player in the league to go fuck off. They should have just paid Mack whatever he asked and been done with it.
Oh by the way how did Mack do yesterday  in his FIRST FUCKING GAME as a non-Raider?
They’re gonna regret this for the next ten fucking years, minimum.

Monday Night opener starts in a couple hours, let’s see what these fools got against a suddenly scary Rams squad.

The Khalil thing just doesn’t make any sense... from a Raiders standpoint that is... good for him though. Boy got paid.

And in all fairness the Rams were pretty solid last season. Only thing i could see being their downfall is ego... and play-off Goff... still my NFC pick

I feel like Washington could squeak out a wild card spot

And something I always forget.... Phillip Rivers has been putting up crazy numbers quietly for a long ass time now ha... think he’s number 1 in most consecutive starts

Rivers is the most underrated QB in the league right now. I guess he's just a victim of Tony Romo syndrome aka putting up amazing numbers but playing for teams that are slightly above average at best.

Yeah that was when they blew it against pittsburgh I think. Pretty sure that was the first year he played for NY too. Then the second year i think he broke the record for most interceptions in one game against KC or some shit lol.

Jets looked pretty damn good tonight though. Their defense looks solid. Darnold seemed to recover well from that pick 6 he threw in the beginning also.

Chargers are just ran so poorly at times.... wasted his prime, yet he throws for 3-4K a year ha. Keeps on truckin n shit...( i can’t talk too much shit as a Texans fan by default. Rick Smith was a terrible GM for years. godfather of the owner’s grand kids. Long ass leash)

Darnold suprised me a bit. I didn’t watch too much of him at USC. I think the good thing for him is the expectations arent too too high? So he can just play ball. Confident kid.

Pat Mahomes.... kid has a cannon.

Raiders performance was basically what I had expected.

Good start riddled with dumb penalties (10 in the first half alone) followed by second half collapse.

Also, how’d that pass rushing thing work out?
Oh shit I forgot, you traded away the best fucking pass rusher in the league and what did he do in his first game not wearing silver and black? Human fucking highlight reel type shit.

Can’t wsit until they move to Vegas so I can be done with these goddamn fuckheads finally.

Chokeland Faiders once again never fail to disappoint, leading 12-0 at halftime and held Denver to a grand total of ONE first down, completely take their foot of the gas (they weren’t driving fast to begin with but you get my meaning) and let the Broncos back in the game.

When Denver scored a TD to cut the lead to 19-17 (Raiders missed an extra point or it would have been 20-17) with about 3 or 4 minutes and change left in the game it was at this point that I thought to myself “They’re absolutely going to lose this game on a last second field goal.”

So glad that they didn’t let me down.
Fuck these idiots, especially Gruden, his face after every Raiders fuck up, which is of course all the time, is priceless .
I seriously hope the Bears win the Super Bowl and Khalil Mack gets defensive player of the year again.

Agreed. Mainly for Khalil..... i got shat on years ago in some Houston forum for saying Khalil over Clowney...i didn’t think Clowney had a good work ethic or attitude. He wasn’t even suited up Sunday yet got a taunting call... and here’s Khalil winning defensive players of the year and the face of a franchise...

Hind sight is 20/20... Clowney was the safest pick in 2014. Still it stings...

At least Dallas has actually won a game, Raiders of course found another way to start off good and get a lead for most of the game, only to choke in the 4th quarter again in Miami.
Cowboys offense may be anemic but Oakland is hot garbage and easily the worst team in football.

What the fuck was up with that Browns/Raiders game?
The Raiders almost pulled out a very Cleveland Browns like loss against the Cleveland Browns.

If you are playing at home and having problems keeping the Cleveland Browns from scoring over 40 points, you have got yourself a very, very shitty football team.

Seriously the game almost ended in a tie, that’s how close to the stereotypical Cleveland Browns famous level of sucking the Raiders are.

On a positive note, Khalil Mack had another sack and fumble recovery for the Bears, that makes a sack AND a fumble recovery IN EACH GAME OF THE SEASON so far for him.
Please please please let the Bears win the Super Bowl and he wins Super Bowl MVP so Gruden can have his fucking stupid scowl frozen on his face while he remembers what a fucking dipshit he is for dealing away the best defensive player the Raiders have seen in a generation.

Bullshit upsets I wanna see in Week 5:

The Bronco's lose to the Jets in MetLife - dejected from the Mahomes beating, and traveling across two time zones. If Darnold brings it, maybe they put up a decent fight.

I wanna see the Chiefs get their first loss at the hands of Jacksonville's defense

I wanna see the Raiders upset the Chargers at Home. They finally got their first win against the browns, and they're not leaving their timezone - so I like them in this game.

Baker makes his first true FULL GAME Start at home against the Ravens. I'm hoping the crowd works in his favor, but the Ravens are pretty good road dogs.

Kind of have no hope for the Giants for this season to be honest - Carolina's coming off their bye this week, and we're playing them at home. I'm thinking stupid fucking Cam smokes us.

This was the first week of the season that Khalil Mack didn’t have both a sack and a fumble recovery for the Bears. He didn’t have a tackle, he didn’t do anything.
How is that possible?
The Bears had a bye, that’s how.
The only thing that can stop the Khalil Mack express is his team actually not playing.
I feel sorry for any offense that lines up against him, this is gonna be such a fuck you season for him and like I said , defensive player of the year and hopefully Super Bowl champion and ideally Super Bowl MVP.

Gruden and the Raiders continue to go on exactly as expected, hopefully sucking worse next year (is that even possible?) and ultimately sucking even worse than that when they arrive to the giant bandwagon in Las Vegas for the 2020 season.

Seahawks bent the Raiders over and gave them a jolly good buggering for the London crowd to laugh at. Jesus, they are absolutely disgusting and pathetic. The amount of points they’ve surrendered in the first 6 games is staggering.

Well put. Tyreek Hill is like a goblin. He just materializes out of nowhere.
Also, Mahomes is way too calm... it almost creeps me out. Every time the camera pans to him on the sideline--no matter what's happening on the field--he's just staring off into the distance like he's waiting for his Uber. I guess having a professional athlete for a father might help put things into perspective.

almost every offense is doing that fake jet sweep thing. “copycat league” is right. I wonder how long it will take defenses to figure out the best way to counter it before the next offensive trend sweeps the league.

I don’t understand why Houston threw it into the end zone on 4th down instead of just going for the first down before the half.  They still had like 1:30 on the clock and easily could’ve scored. Can’t make dumb mistakes like that in the playoffs.

Remember when Miami won the AFC East because they built their entire offense around the Wildcat trend and then went right back to tanking the next year because defenses realized it's actually really fucking easy to defend against? Good times

If Bill O’Brien is calling the plays, There will be a lot of bad play calling. And Deshaun, for how great he is, is always trying to punch it in versus maybe a checkdown pass.

And as much as i like Romeo Crennel, he should just hang it up. I have no idea how you have jj watt AND clowney, yet can’t put hardly any pressure on Luck. And don’t even get me started on that secondary.

O’Brien has an extension ‘til 2020, crennel said he expects to return in 2019. Sigh.

Edit: in all reality i fully expected the colts to win. They were red hot coming into the playoffs. But the Texans looked unprepared. They didn’t show up.

People were predicting the Rams would be the next dynasty before the Super Bowl even happened. Talk about jumping the gun. It could still happen but it’ll be very hard once they start having to pay their players. And the league saw how to play McVay’s offense tonight so he better have some new ideas next season. Wade Phillips is the one who kept them in this game. There was a lot of hype around this team and I don’t really see them making it back to the Super Bowl that soon.

They’re going all in on an unproven 2nd year starter who had one good postseason quarter instead of a super bowl winning QB. Let’s see how it plays out.

Remember this is a team with a deep history of mediocre quarterback play.

WAS a super bowl winning QB. Was Flacco their answer anymore? He hasn’t looked very good last few seasons. It’s almost a lateral move for Denver ha. That should be an interesting QB competition between flac and Keenum.

Lamar Jackson I’m not sure was 100% healthy during his playing time. Balt got a draft pick out of it and got rid of Joes contract (not sure how much of it they had to eat).

Even after getting Flacco and having Keenum, Elway is sniffing around for sure.

More logically, I’m thinking dc will overpay.

I'd doubt it. Smith is still under contract and Foles just turned 30. Yes it makes sense to sign him as a backup where he'd more than likely get a good amount of playing time, but I think he's gonna want to be a starter.
