Yuto Horigome - the most insane tricks with sadly zero personality, because if he really wanted to make it, he would hopefully realize that it's important to have some
Ben Hatchell - nobody ever saw an kickflip stalefish and thought "I'm feeling that"
Jagger Eaton - his push makes me vomit, also seems to perceive skating switch solely as a way to score higher in contests
Anyone who got Weck'd and took it way too seriously (Danny Way)
-
jagger had the ugliest fakie revert and push in his tampa pro line, his style seemed somewhat forced as well. like on some fake arm shit.
-
all youtube pros

it’s the olympics era of skateboarding now. all your concerns about style, culture, and personality off the board are moot.
-
Jagger Eaton
fuck him, he's one year younger than me but skates like i would want to when i was 12
-
Jagger Eaton - his push makes me vomit, also seems to perceive skating switch solely as a way to score higher in contests
This is pretty much the opposite of being clueless.
Kid does have an awkward push, though.

Pretty much every skater that isn't relevant or marketable anymore that can't take the hint that they need to move on and work a 9-5.

I think part of the reason Yuto doesn't really seem to have a personality is the language barrier.

It's only a matter of time before Weiss gets him drunk and does a naked 540 in front of him.
Then he has two choices...
1)let loose and form a personality
2)vanish completely in pure disgust of Weiss and blind in general
-

this! hard to really judge someone off of their 2nd language "personality"
-
I'd say most skaters are pretty clueless.

Pat Burke, in a good way. That guy has absolutely no idea what's going on.
-
I don't think I'd call these people clueless, although I don't care for their footage or how they approach skating (at least Yuto and Jagger Eaton).
I agree with Pat Burke as clueless in a good way. I'd add Evan Smith and Nick Trapasso to that list.

I always thought that more akin to childlike innocence, wonder, and naivity to the "normal world" than being clueless, cause they all def rip and at one point at least had the culture at large in the palm of their hands. That ain't clueless.

The "cool guys".
Oh, you hang around with losers from Vice and do everything ironically? How fucking unique...

He doesn't speak English well, I think he only started trying to speak English recently. He's also really young, like 18 or 19? Give him some time, I've seen him filming with the Tightbooth crew on insta recently (probably some footage for LENZIII), also seen him skate in person in Tokyo like 2 years ago and he might just be the most consistent skater I've ever seen.
-
Yuto was quoted saying, "Fuck second place" after not winning Phx AM
yes... I've been waiting for someone else to chuck a "kurtis"
-
Joslin doesn't seem like the sharpest tool in the shed. Same for Anthony Shetler, seems like he's in his own world compared to the rest of skating.

Tom Penny. In the best possible way.

Crailtap; four star is the next brand to be sold, while girl and chocolate slowly fade to black.
-
No Shane Oneill yet.
-
He probably has some sort of a clue based on what he's done with shoe designs and stuff. But Stefan Janoski doesn't come across as very clever in interviews

At least make the thread a challenge.

"Tom Penny in the best possible way" ;D
i think trapasso is synonymous for being the ultimate burnt out skater kid. those interviews when he was at his height...pulling teeth.
what was that sound he would do as well?

Why does it seem like so many people hate on Hatchell? I personally think the dude has great style. His part in Fun was amazing.
-
Pat Burke, in a good way. That guy has absolutely no idea what's going on.
haha I immediately thought of pat burke too. I love his skating and personality in videos but that guy is straight FRIED.

People registering to defend Scientology and Ben Hatchell. What a time to be alive.

I think he is smart, just seems slow maybe because of a combo of his slow Cali drawl and the fact he is super laid back because of the success of said shoe. Dude is set for life.

Yuto was quoted saying, "Fuck second place" after not winning Phx AM
says who, keep seems really humble, and OP it's clearly 150% A: The fact that he is in a world of English, a language he clearly just starting to learn. Then coupled with the fact that day in and day out he is surrounded by legends flying around the world or situated in Cali, it's hard enough for American AMs to get adjusted to being in the van. There is story after story to evidence point B. Can you give the guy more than a year in his new foreign environment to adjust. Japanese to English is one of the tougher lingual transitions out there. Thanks for your time

Clueless sounds about right.

It was Austin Seaholm, not Kurtis.
And I’ll echo the sentiment that the Yuto comment is out of place.

Not really relevant but my favorite interview question for skateboarders is "What's your favorite book?" because 90% of the time they say something along the lines of "I don't fucking read."

And the other 10% mentions Bukowski, without fail.

Todd Fuckin' Falcon.

Someone at one point had to inform Tom Penny that the person's skateboarding that he just complimented on the telly was in fact him.

What the fuck is up with Hatchell now, he fucking shredded in his prime (assuming he's not anymore). A long time ago, Zero came through for a demo and Ben obliterated our local park. I'm talking McTwist on a vert wall where simply hitting the coping was considered gnarly for a local.

Didn't know he did a McTwist on the vert wall at your local skatepark. I stand corrected.

He had a pro model for Powell come out not too long ago. Just skated the bowl jam at Tampa Pro.

I was going to say Doug Brown but then realized he's actually got a lot of clues.
If you read his book like I did you'll know and then you can call his clues your own.

After recently getting into The Nine Club, I've been surprised that the guests on pretty much every episode I've watched were decently intelligent & well-spoken dudes!

Bringing this topic back, because of Theotis thread, yeah I liked his skating. However lose lil Wayne and his goofy ass and we’re good.

Yes, Westgate is far from someone I could call clueless. He seems to have this whole skate career thing figured out pretty well and on his own terms. Plus he already has another business that he could transition into full time once he desires to retire from skating. Has anyone ever done it better than Westgate??
