What year is it? Where did you get a ct-iv?
2024 is the current year but the re-issue of the shoe was in 2019 i think. ebay has some. one dude had a nice navy colorway for $100, told him i wanted to skate em and he got me for 55; nice guy.

Sorry for the question that I thought had already been answered but I couldn't find it.

1 - All cast plates have the same size, whether 5.6 or 5.8, right? I can change the plate between sizes?
2 - Do you need 1" screws for the cast plates? Is 7/8" not enough?

Thanks you for your help
[close]

All cast and forged plates are interchangeable, forged are 1.5mm shorter than cast. See my signature for height measurements.

7/8" hardware will fit on cast or forged baseplates. Go 1" if you plan on using 1/8" risers.

Tks rocklobster!
No risers here.

50% Italian American and 50% Sicilian American and 100% dislike the Sopranos
[close]

What didn't you like about it?
[close]

Ok let me just condense these down real quick, and by the way, happy for everyone who enjoys this show, good on you.  Just thought I would drop my two centos into the discussion:

1) If you're gonna use stereotypes, how are they aging?  Are they clownish at this point?  I think these are.
2) I'm not opposed to having non-Italian American's play them or vice versa (nod to you John Turturro), but to cast Iler and Sigler as little Italian kids made zero sense to me when there's tons of other actors their age.
3) The pacing was slow and not in a good way.  David Chase is not David Lynch and couldn't pull it off (though I think he was trying to imitate Lynch in season 6 with Tony's identity).  This did not need to be a 6 season show.  Lots of filler.  I'm sure HBO wanted even more seasons but they should have cut it down (And then a prequel comes out?  Did you care about that?)
4)Most of the show was quite predictable.  You really didn't see Ade coming?  Or Christopher?  Or a whole bunch of them?  Very few genuine surprises in the show
5) The finale is just no good.  The "suspense" leading up to it is tedious (more DePalma than Hitch), and the way you can tell that David Chase wrote a bad ending is that he's since come out and just said, "yeah, Tony died in the diner."  So it wasn't like a good "non-ending" like No Country for Old Men, it was that he just didn't write the ending and told everybody later what happened.
6) The relationship with Tony and Melfie is unintentionally hilarious.  I couldn't buy that she would stay through all that.  I get a lot of fans call that "brilliant"
7) Phil was an anticlimactic bad guy.  Again, it just seems like lazy writing.

Those are seven quickies that come to mind.  I don't mean to ruin your childhood.  Just one man's opinion.

I am sorry. You seem to have ALOT of preconceived expectations you apply to a show. It never had a chance, did it?
What is you favorite series?

Oh it goes on. I set them back up for more punishment after already promising them to an Andy Anderson worshiping old guy at the indoor skatepark. Should probably start a Youtube channel....

That sounds promising. Just go around disappointing old guys with promises of Andy Anderson completes with Cubics.

Make sure to also land every single trick they’re trying first try right in front of them, and just mean mug stare at them as you roll away. Point at them, too, for extra flair. Say things loudly like “man it must suck to be old! That was easy!”

They love that, too. ;D
[close]

Sorta unrelated but I wonder if those old skatepark guys love && so much because he’s what they hoped most modern pros would have become. Kinda like your dad always bringing up the neighbors kid because he goes to college while you work part time at a Quiznos.

Here’s my deep thoughts:

Andy does everything. Super big ass rails and little stupid dumb shit on flat and curbs. He’s incredibly creative, and looks at spots differently than someone else. He’s like an emerging art piece on wheels that does it purely for the love of it. (Also creating new skate products, simply for the love of it: cubic wheels, his deck)

Getting old and skating is really difficult, for both the mind and body… and you have to really tone it down and skate different things and be more creative, while also enjoying skating more because you truly are just doing it for the joy of it (and not for fame and glory like it was in the younger days): in other words, old folks just truly don’t give a fuck anymore and are just happy to be doing anything.

Anderson emits that positivity and fuck-all attitude, and it’s relatable; and gets you stoked to go skate.

That’s my take on him, anyways.

I think the darkslide debacle and his inability to nollie heelflip at BATB really killed the illusion that he is some all time great. If guys in their 40s want to believe he's the second coming of skate Jesus that's fine but he doesn't really compare to other ATV greats. It's really just branding. He's skate Lady Gaga and his front foot impossible is just a meat dress.

To make this more on topic, those nano cubic wheels look stupid. I get it they are an old shape brought back and they have some history that I should care about but maybe they should have just stayed dead.
No, is a great counter argument. I’ve never thought of it that way before.

It’s not about his talent… it’s his character and love for skating that is infectious. It reminds us what it’s like to be young and what it was like to get into skating in the first place.

Hit 40, and shit just starts getting real and no one wants to think about death.

Over 40’s love Reynolds and Kirchart, too, but not because of their personalities: for them, it’s because of their talent and style that make you want to go skate.

And you also care less what you’re supposed to love/hate because a bunch of other people parrot the same opinion.  It’s great to truly not give a fuck what people think.

Is he still sponsorless or is he officially on Girl?

he’ll have his a board in the spring 2027 catalog at their rate

Remember how long it took for Trahan? He was on for like 2 years and then got his board on a trip and then we still had to wait like 6 months for the edit and announcement.

You gotta wonder what dirt smyth has on Rick and Mike to have let him run their company into the ground and miss so many huge skaters.

Another gem. I can't believe Rizzo even tried that bs nosegrind back 180 out the first time with the car basically blocking the rollaway.
[close]

Thought the same thing, I wish he made that one because I can't even really imagine the rollaway

Precisely why he's a pro skater paid to put his body on the line on a regular basis. And I'm just an average Joe who after who after 20 years still struggles with consistent kickflips.

I re-watched it a while back after sixteen years. Love it as much now as I did then. I already had love for New Jersey back then, but boy do you love New Jersey more after Sopranos. One of the absolute greatest shows you can watch.

I love that scene when Tony let Furio handle business by himself.
