I would listen to Behind Bars all the time when I was 18/19, I loved that shit
I first discovered that album when I was 16, 30 years later I still love it!

Impish sausage is definitely gonna blow up as a euphemism this year

Any other Hickey fans? I feel like they epitomized the whole do-gooder dirtbag concept more than any other Bay Area band. They were absolutely unbelievable live.

that split with voodoo glow skulls though! Lol
I’ve heard a lot of good things about this band, but they sound like the type of group where you really had to see them live… any good entry points in terms of albums?

Yeah, the VGS story is the stuff of legends. Definitely worth checking out that 45! As far as albums, the self-titled is probably the best jumping off point. There was a box collection that came out last year with a bunch of stuff that had never previously seen the light of day. Really need to pick that one up.

Oh man that Hickey/VGS split 7" is one of my favorite records that I own.  The stuff of punk rock legend.  As an aside, the drummer, Aesop, had one of the best punk/metal blogs around some years back (cosmic hearse) and has been in some great black metal bands over the years.

Been on a Socal hardcore/punk/deathrock kick lately, this comp is an all-time classic.  Even the Social Distortion tracks are great.
