Since I’m from a generation where I was finding my groove on a board when Virtual Reality came out and was at my prime when Mosiac came out, modern skateboarding doesn’t really get me hyped. That being said, I’ve watched this video twice and it doesn’t really do anything for me... what about this video gets you guys hyped?

Not trying to troll; just actually very curious.

Same here...Gilbert part in Ride the Sky was a Lot better than this. But the hype nowadays is about clothes and basic tricks in street spots.

Gilbert's part = basic? How did you come to that conclusion?

I don’t get how anyone is hating on Gilbert’s part. His evolution has been insane. His pop and board control is top notch . The tre flip up the curb in one line was like two feet high and he landed like 4 from where he popped. Also his manual game is on point. I’d even go as far to say as he deserves more love than Jake gets. He’s consistent , has good style and great pop. Skates everything and picks spots that people aren’t skating constantly. Dudes put out like 15 minutes of footage since quasi started .

at my prime when Mosiac came out, modern skateboarding doesn’t really get me hyped.

i'd argue that Gilbert Crockett is the perfect progression of skateboarding from the Mosaic-era.  I'm generally curious of how you can be a fan of Mosaic parts like Renaud's... and then dismiss Gilbert as "modern skateboarding"

in other words, Gilbert Crockett picked up where your precious Mosaic left off...

Even better second time around. A lot to take in the first time.

Agreed.

First time through Gilberts part was on my phone, which really didn't do it justice.

Second pass was on a full size monitor... Getting to see those pants in all their glory and the power behind his tricks. Hyped on this part for sure.

Anyone heard why it was taken down so quick? I had to watch it on pornhub. Which in itself was hilarious to me . It was weird to see Jake in HD . Even though he only had a few tricks all of it was insane. He’s so good it’s really upsetting he hasn’t filmed more cause a lot of that felt like him just fucking around . Also the filming on al’s line ending with the switch crook didn’t do it justice . I was sitting there like that’s not super impressive, and then he had the switch back smith on the same ledge with a different angle and I was like damn that thing is a high as fuck.

I guess if you took Danny Renaud from Mosaic, gave him Adrian Lopez’s style, covered him in ink stickers, dressed him like a long shoreman and made his tricks less impressive, then yes; Gilbert Crockett picked up right where Renaud left off.

That Gilbert part isnt better than any Mosaic part, how this can be progression? His style is like Adrian Lopez.

where are you guys coming up with this Adrian Lopez comparison?

Honestly I think Gilbert's Old Dominion part, more so than this Mother part, would fit right in to Mosaic
I don't really understand what's going on and I haven't read this thread yet, but I can tell I'm angry.

What is the consensus on Gilbys gross arms? I wanna like him from interviews etc but he has really bad style.

Also Bummed that JJ will probably never put out another full part

I ended up watching it on veganxbones' channel, which is on YT. It was still there this morning when I looked.

Pretty good video. Wish it had more Bledsoe, Davis and Johnson footy though. Don't see why they wouldn't wait on filming a bit more with those cats and then drop it?

Some of the trou is a bit ridiculous though. Whatever, pretty good video.

I know I'll probably watch this again after work.

This is not the instant classic video I was expecting. I liked the video, but was hoping for more JJ, Al Davis and Bledsoe footage.
Dick Rizzo is growing on me, Justin Henry has a good style but his part needed some more work/bangers.

The montage is good but it looks like the video was botched and would have been way better if they had give it 6 additional months to film.

Crockett's prolific output the past few years is impressive. Dude can stack footage.

This part was really good, but someone is really trying to compare it to Renaud in Mosaic? C'mon man. First of all Renaud kicked off his respective part and was an unknown. Then you had the perfect storm of top notch filming (Castrucci, Strobeck) , spot selection (all over the country- but in particular that line in Delaware with the nollie 180 down the 9 set is a great example) , editing (that Cymande track is a bonafide classic now), and of course the skating itself- particularly Renaud's style. No slight to Crockett- but that Renaud part is on the shortlist of all-timers.

Someone posted a dm conversation with quasi, saying the vhs is for homies and no dvd unfortunately. Music copyrights killed that idea for a lot of companies

Damn I left my bubbler at my parents house
