Discussions/ thoughts on skateboarding
« on: July 28, 2018, 10:03:39 AM »
- Skateboarding as a tool for kids to at-least physically move around town i.e. getting to know (people from) neighbourhoods other than your own.
- ethics of building skateparks? more =/= better, scandinavian acceptance; spot/ park building
- pros and cons of becoming a mainstream sport
- ways of staying true to the feeling skateboarding provides (staying true =/= core)
- pros and cons of big (shoe) brands
- does skateboarding need pro skaters?
- does skateboarding need (skateboarding) shoe brands

these are some questions/ thoughts I think about from time to time without being able to really form a decisive answer.
I'm sure some guys one here are interested in this stuff

I made page called curbcut on hotglue.me which is something best described as an online sketchbook,
The idea is to get anyone who is interested involved and adding to the website, be it with random thoughts or relevant (scholary) articles, videos etc.
and co-create a sort of visual discussion on one page

we can offcourse discuss these topics over here aswell but I think the visual aspect 'd be interesting.
I'm also open to suggestions, ditching the hotglue and opening a piratepad or something similar.

i saw this on an episode of gangland. the solidos asked the latin kings if they could have their own gang and since the lk's were deep in hartford they allowed it. then the solidos became more popular and the 2 gangs had a bloodwar over a girl.
behaviorguide is clearly trying to start his own slap and recruit pals for it. as underhanded as it is, i have to say, i admire his cunning.

You're suggesting Sort of a compendium for a certain type of thoughtful skate-related article, that's what 8t looks like to me. Seems like a good idea.

I'm not sure if skating is becoming a mainstream sport.  It had its popularity boom in the earlier OO's and it never came back.  They just use the image to sell erg drinks or shoes.  I think that as a world we're past the point of it really mattering anymore whether skateing is 'kept core' but thats just my 2 cents.
