Classic CCS catalogs from the 90's
« on: August 15, 2018, 06:35:39 PM »
I saved a handful of the CCS catalogs from the 90's. I don't know if people collect these things for novelty or don't care. Looking for general input.

thanks for this link! i can see myself wasting hours looking through all the old product. wish i could remember which was the first catalog that arrived in my mailbox.

on the ccs youtube channel they'll occasionally bring on pros to flip through an old catalog. i wouldn't mind if they made it a weekly thing.

That was probably my first ccs catalog too.

You and the D00D have turned this thread into a horrible head-on-collision between a short bus full of regular kids and a van full of paraplegics.

The few I have date from 91-94. After 91 the deck shapes became less radical but It's nice to look back at what I was shopping for then and what I want now in terms of building a collection.

Thanks for throwing in the link.

it aint cheap to print, the fact that you could order 1 sticker and receive their catalog for the following ten years was impressive.

the thing that I get hyped on is the nostalgia for the fancy little do dads, like Dayton axle bolts that made your truck axles like you had low rider rims or the stupid sparx skid pads which caused razor tail like a motherfucker but would slip off if you took it down an SF hill going super fast true story btw....... CCS was awesome as shit.

On a side note the 1st shop in SLO,CA is a surf shop I think or something else been awhile anyways next door to it was a hippie bar. Well one night was super drunk and someone left their recumbent bike those bikes you half laydown and pedal, I started to take it for a spin as a novelty I was going to put it right back no harm no foul, as I am mastering how to ride it doing figure 8's on the strip the owner flips apeshit HEY MAN!!!!! THAT"S A PROTOTYPE BIKE!!!!! as she shreiks I lose balance and slam into a car she instantly starts crying like wtf are you doing? I am drunk well dumbass should have put a lock on it and hand it back to her.  whoops my bad those things are expensive as fuck.

Vertisdead also has some scanned catalogs. Some CCS and some manus, mostly from the late 80s and early 90s. They are a good browse especially if you like shapely skateboarding decks.

Maybe this belongs in the confessions thread, but I remember seeing the Spring 98’ Koston cover and buying almost the identical 4-Star/éS fit shortly afterwards.

I remember Active was advertising Andrew Reynolds's fits around the same time. One was his The End fit, baggy pants, fisherman hat; the other was his early PD fit, all black.

I remember when Active first came out.  I was living on the east coast in a small town with no local and thought Active must be the best shop ever, just because of how stacked the team was.
