Looking for used decks for art projects
« on: August 31, 2018, 05:37:50 PM »
As title states, looking for used decks for an art project. Ideally not snapped/focused, but i dont care much about razor tail or chips in nose/tail.  I will pay for them, but cant offer too much. Message me what you have and what youre looking for. I live near Washington D.C and, unfortunately, we don't really have any shops that can help me out.

There was another poster on here trying to do the same thing and I was gonna mail him like five boards, but with the weight of the box the shipping was like $100 :/

But if it's to a residence and not a PO Box maybe it's cheaper?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was. I didn't try any other places cuz by time I told him he said never mind.

$100 seems nuts. I ship large/heavy objects pretty frequently  at work and rates are reasonable (could be the business account), but I also sell a decent amount of stuff on ebay and dont get killed either.  Now youve got me thinking. So i just based some calculations off of a california zip code and estimated the box at 36x9x9 and it was about $44 for both ups and usps.  Im wondering if i can use my work account to create cheaper labels.

Now that I'm thinking about it, they definitely mentioned that the price was because of the PO Box and mentioned that residential shipping would be much cheaper.

Try going to a local shop. I needed the same thing and a local shop typically has used ones that are trashed or not too bad and they usually just give them away.

Sadly, there aren't any shops like that around my area anymore (Washington D.C).  Craigslist and ebay have been a pretty big bust, too. I'm hopeful that one of my good friends, who has a relationship with essentially the only shop around here, can work his magic for me.
