Great guest, perfect example of how smaller guys in the "scene" can often provide much more insight than superstars of their era. Articulate as well, Jimmy seems like a smart dude with a good head on his shoulders.

Aesthetics was right before I started skating, but I am pretty confident it was not on the level of Chocolate like he makes it out to be, right?

Aesthetics ride or die was my first video I owned brand new and not dubbed. I thought Aesthetics was the biggest thing ever. If you asked me back when I first started skating in 5th grade, I might not have known chocolate skateboards but would of thought all skateboarders knew Aesthetics. I grew up in south jersey like 15-20 minutes outside of Philadelphia and had an older cousin really into it so my memory is pretty biased.

Pretty much nothing was on level with Girl/Chocolate at the time but I always thought Aesthetics was dope and considered top-tier but then again I knew nothing that was going on behind the scenes and how it was perceived in the industry.

I'm about half way through and Jimmy seems like a solid dude, way more humble than one could think from his appearance. Not at all the "look at me" type, more like "I was really lucky to do what I got to do."

I thought it was a good episode too. Aesthetics at the time was only in my radar cause of the Ruff Ryder rip off logo. Then I looked into the company and it had a hip-hop vibe which I loved. Video at the time was alright but now seems to be more of a classic considering who the team was. I had no idea who Welsh was at the time or Joey Pepper. I just though Clyde was a funny ass dude.

Aesthetics sponsored John Igei therefore based off that fact alone they are one of the greatest companies to have ever existed.

This. Great episode overall. When I actually started paying attention to people in skateboarding, as a young’n, the Zoo era that Jimmy was a part of was what I latched on to. Back the guy and what he’s doing nowadays, will always appreciate his skating.

Was Aesthetics a name change from 23 Skateboards or a whole new company?

These are getting to be a tough listen/watch. Seemed like half the interview was an advertisement for the guy’s clothing company.

Especially the 15 minute description about the characteristics of a well-made t shirt.
When nothing in society deserves respect, we should fashion for ourselves in solitude new silent loyalties.

on point.

the bold is the most interesting, and the bunt is kind of better at this line of questioning.

these days the bunt in general is better in most categories, except length and fluidity.

agreed

i enjoy the bunt the most, i think those two dudes have more wide-ranging life experience and know how to relate to people a bit more outside skateboarding
