Just set this up...

OPEN "Otter" 7.8 x 32
Indy 139's
Bones Mediums
Swiss
Spitfire Classics 52

+ Lupe

I really like the shape on this board. The tail is longer than most 7.8's that I've come across.
No major complaints on Spitfires really. Out of 20+ sets I've ridden over the years, I've only had two sets flatspot (One the first day, but I'll chalk that up to being a defect.)
Aside from that, some coning here and there, but that's nothing that a quick wheel rotation won't fix.

You should try one out. I've been riding OPEN decks for the past 2 or so years. Quality wood and ill shapes, you really can't go wrong...

Skate Mental Matt Beach "Carberator" (8.125x31.625)
Indy Stage 10 139
Spitfire Guy Mariano Slims 53mm
Mob Grip
Bones Super Reds
Lucky Hardware
Black/Blue Cons Papalardo Pro
This has me cracking up, what exactly does Black Flag have to do with measuring your dick starting behind ya nuts?

Skateboarding is nothing but a game to find the right fits to appear like you're a proportional human being instead of a midget or a giant.

Just set up some 52 mm spitfire streetburners for the first time and I didn't like them at all. I skated on asphalt today.

What do you guys think of them?
[close]

I've stopped skating Spitfires entirely.
[close]

They're terrible.  I'm skating a set and they've coned out pretty quick.  And I suck.  Bones and Pig seem to be best, for me anyway.
[close]

When I'm done with these I'm back to bones 100's again. Never skated pigs though.
[close]
seriously, were spitfire's always this bad? i've had a few sets over the years but none were as shitty as my current set, going back to skating Bones when i'm done with them aswell, cant even compare the quality between the two.

Spitfires are absolutely worthless from my experience. They've coned and worn down quicker than any other wheels I've owned. I just got a set of Prize Fighter Cutlery wheels and they're amazing.

Perhaps after this superb Magenta.  I also really want to try a Hopps.

I'm in a similar boat in that there are a lot of smaller companies I still want to try out: Polar, Roger, Magenta, Palace, etc. I just don't have the need to buy a new deck because I have another AWS on hold. Plus, most of those are hard to get in shops and I feel weird buying a deck from somewhere other than my local shop.

Since I don't have a local shop, I support other local shops like Theories, Orchard and hopefully Seasons, soon. ? I'll have Escapist when I move to KC in a couple weeks, though.

Open decks are super good. I'd like to try support Polar as well, but theirs shapes seemed a bit pointy, have to see one in person. Palace decks' shape also was too steep for me, on the ones I've seen at least. Witchcraft and Roger are on my shopping list now. I also liked Blood Wizard, I wonder if they went under already?

Was hard to find a Roger out east, so I contacted a local Austin shop ( http://www.nocomplyatx.com/ ) and ordered one up.

I have 2 setups. An 8.25 with 139s and 52s and an 8.5 with 149s and 54s.
Sometimes I just feel lazy and wanna flip my board with less effort, others i just wanna skate tranny and do slappies.

recently set up an 8.38 TG board with 149s and 57s for skating more trany.
feels damn good.

regular board isn't much smaller (8.25 with 139s and 53s) but the difference is there.

hell yeah, that's what i was thinking of doing. like, using the 8.5 when i'm just parking it. then the 8.25/8.38 for everything else.
the 8.5 has got 54s, and the smaller setup has 53s. do you feel like you need to adjust much?
Not really. I've skated a big setup for years, just sometimes I want my nollie flips to not bounce off the ground. It all depends on how I'm feeling that day. Personally I like big boards and end up skating it more anyways.

Just ordered my first Magenta board from Theories! I'll post it as soon as it gets here. I went way down to a 7.9 this time, so hopefully flip tricks will be easier now.

skating is all about choosing your outfit very deliberately, going out in public. looking super sick. and then riding your board a little bit
