8.5 shop blank, apparently modeled after a DLX shape. mellow concave but could be flatter for my taste
Ace 44s, stock bushings and all
Spitfire F4s conical full 55 ish probably
Bronson bearings

right now I'm skating Bruins, and they are probably the best vulc shoe I've ever worn. thought I was a cupsole guy and then my first pair of these has me so hooked

I'm 6'2" and size 11.5 shoe and I think i'm actually ready to step down to 8.38 after having been on 8.5/8.6 for a few years now. but I kind of want something with a pointy nose and tail rather than the really full or bandaid shape a lot of boards nowadays have. I also want to switch up my wheels and go from these to like 52 or 53 radial slims.

cheers, it was the only spilt stain I saw from this run. I had like 8-10 other boards in mind but new I would kick myself in the nuts later if I passed it up. Took it for a quick roll yesterday but I'm still getting used to it after being on PS Stix

Not most recently no, but I've ridden a few of the bigger Polar shapes in the past.

Been awhile but not too much changes from setup to setup. Skated this Isle for about 6 weeks which is a long time for me.

Isle Nguyen 8.125
Thunder Ti149
Ricta Westgate 52 (tablet shape)
Hard Luck ceramic / MOB / Shortys
And Slap's (least) favorite shoe, Stan Smith vulc. Maybe my foot is a random, exact shape for the shoe bc I love them and think they skate great.

And I just recently set this up everything new, even bearings:
Habitat Marius 8.25 (has these embossed triangles on the bottom ply)
Thunder Ti 149
Crupie Cerezini 52
Bones Swiss / MOB / Shortys

haha! Hey if they work for you, roll with them. I still have nightmares about the pain they caused my feet just walking around in them.

I'm as low impact as it gets! They're not my favorite shoe by any means but I've liked them. I can definitely see tho that they wouldn't be for everyone.

What did you not like about it? I kinda wanna try one but I'd have to order it. Comparing the 8.06 full and regular, it doesn't seem that full...

I skated that exact same Sebo board and hated it too. No idea why. I like most other DLX shapes even if they're a hair long for me, but there was something about that Sebo.

I think it was the length and wheelbase that threw me off. My flip tricks were off and it was hard to balance doing manuals.
I set up the Cromer and the first kickflip was perfect. The sebo just felt way too long and boaty.

They're different widths. 149's fit flush with 8.5s and 148's fit with 8.25s.

Some guy working at a shop tried to sell me 148s saying "they're the same thing as 149s..". What the hell! Why would they have a different number and new advertisements if they were the same!

What's the difference between thunder 149 and 148?

The difference is nothing. Marketing. It's all hype and it's all horseshit. I legitimately skate 149 on everything from 8' to 8.38' and they work for me on every one of those board sizes. Conversely, Erik Ellington skates 147 on 8.5 and they almost look like freestyle trucks on a board that size. It's such a personal thing, just comes down to preference. But DLX has everyone believing they need specific shit for specific sizes and if people aren't gear nerds (like us) it confuses the hell out of the consumer.

I did a bunch of research recently on what other people were riding (as well as experimenting with various deck widths on a given truck width) when it came to truck vs. deck size. There's a big fluctuation between wider trucks/narrow deck and vice versa.

In my own humble estimation, I've come up with the figure of .375+/- as being the range that's acceptable (for me specifically) when it comes to deck/truck widths.

For example, I've run an 8.375" deck on 159 Indys (8.75") axle and loved it. The flipside is guys like Reynolds running like 8.5" decks on 8" axles or Riley Hawk running an 8.5" deck on 9.1" axles (Indy 169s).

So yes, it's all preference, but I feel like my ".375 +/-" formula works well. I no longer pay attention to factory recommendations for sizing.
