I'm not even listening to that song cause I avoid drake as much as I can, but her song on the new Kanye is good

And yeah, that De La record is amazing obviously

But guy don't judge modern music off one song that's popular this week. There's contemporary people/groups making innovative and progressive music in every genre, all the time. Almost too much really, it's hard to keep track. And hell, sometimes there's even some pop/songs that get real popular, that still kinda kill it.

Tell me some stuff you like, and I bet I could turn you onto some stuff that came out in 2015 you'd be into.

Yeah I know. The problem with modern music is that it hasn't been filtrated like the music for past decades where you know whats the good stuff because all the shitty music has been forgotten. Lately I've been in this kind of African music Letta Mbulu - Nomalizo but if you know some good Bauhaus like stuff I'm always interested!

Only Bauhaus I listened to was half of "she's in parties" right now, so i don't know how representative it is of their overall sound, but you might like this. Some similar elements, but it's more intense than that song at least.

The Twilight Sad - Cold Days from the Birdhouse

I might just want another excuse to post this song, cause I put it in the shoegaze thread too

As far as keeping up on music, the quietus and drownedinsound are pretty solid sites. I like tinymixtapes  too, but sometimes they're annoying

It's been years since I have listened to Broadcast but the past two week I have been on a huge kick. I can put on Tender Buttons or Haha Sound without skipping a track.

I'm bummed to just hear about the passing of Andrew Loomis, former drummer for the almighty Dead Moon.  I never really understand why people loved this band so much, UNTIL i saw them play live in Chicago about 10 years ago... without a doubt one of my top two shows I've ever seen.  Amazing band and amazing drummer... when he did the beer on the drums/candle light thing it brought the roof down.  RIP

Hot shit Boston punk/rock and roll grit, before the scene turned to bonehead hardcore.

The Real Kids - All Kindsa Girls (1977)

Real Kids - Reggae, Reggae

DMZ, Lift up your hood.

DMZ - Don't Jump Me Mother

Nervous Eaters - Just Head

mere words cannot explain how rad this song is:
Nervous Eaters - You Smell Like Fish

Also this video... My favorite Beach Boys song covered by a Dictator, with the hot jew babes who started Manic Panic singing backup.  So good!

Andy Shernoff - Be True To Your School

Just found out about these guys. Pretty catchy, bare bones, sort of post-punky stuff. I think its similar sounding to Three Imaginary Boys and Gang of Four's Entertainment, but maybe more poppy. Their album "Why Choose" is pretty good front to back. I'm going to give their first one a listen next.

The Country Teasers have always been my #1 "bad mood/sad/fuck everybody" mood music, but these guys are a close #2.  Pounding out hate-noise-depressed-garage for damn near 30 years and never getting stale.

not the prettiest band, but they rock.
