Brand New - Science Fiction (Full Album)

Brand New's potentially final album randomly dropped yesterday.

To me, it's incredible.

Been stuck on this as well, and I personally think the same. Although I feel they played it safe sonically, the lyrics in this are beautiful. I don't mind how similiar it sounded in comparison to their previous albums. This thing will be on repeat for quite a while.

New Oneohtrix Point Never release!

It's a soundtrack, to this movie "Good Time", that I know nothing about, but it's got some good tracks on the album.

This song really isn't too representative of the rest of the album; but it's cool, and unexpected, that he was able to do a collaboration track with Iggy Pop:

Also this awesome, interesting new Destroyer song:

It's off a new album, coming out in two months.

I think it's progression, just a whole other mood from Daisy and Devil & God. Supposedly final album. If so, what a tease. Also not a bad way to go out. It's too good.

TOBACCO - Slaughtered by the Amway Guy

so many good albums dropped today. giving this new tobacco a shot. pretty good so far and this track definitely goes.

new QOTSA was great. i wasnt feeling the leak, but the sound quality was garbage so hearing it the way its supposed to sound was a treat. only 9 tracks, but not a single filler.

new Liars was good. pretty mellow, but i still enjoyed it.

checked out gogol bordello's new one too. haven't listened to them in a while and it was a fun album.

i post too much oh sees crap, but that album is probably going to be my album of the year. dwyer killed it.

Yeah I saw that a new Tobacco release dropped recently. Haven't listened to them in a few years, looking forward to checking out the new one.

New Tera Melos recently leaked as well:

I haven't given the new album a full listen, but I'm a big fan of a lot of their previous releases.

I dunno if you already listen to them, JB, but they seem like something I think you'd be into.

Math-rock cover they did, of the "Pete & Pete" theme, with some of their interpretation of The Beach Boy's "God Only Knows", mixed into the middle:

New Hammock album dropped recently too.

It's been a long while since I listened to a new release of theirs.

This song is from an older album, but it's a super good, post-rock track, with ambient influences.

The new album is much more in the style of ambient music.

I dunno if you already listen to them, JB, but they seem like something I think you'd be into.

There was a video fender made of the guitar player from tera melos demoing one of their new amps and I really liked his playing. I don't think I've ever listened to their music though. Whats a good place to start?

I don't know where I really stand with math rock. I like some of the more melodic stuff, but some of it is so over the top with the time signatures and technicality. It's hard for me to listen to stuff when my brain can't figure out what's going on. My brother digs all that shit, but he's a really good drummer and he's always been a super technical player.

JB:
Yeah, I'm not into the too over-the-top stuff either anymore either, but bands like Don Caballero will always be great.

I'd say their album "Patagonian Rats" would be a good start:

The first track I posted is off that album.

"Batman Forever" is one of my favorite bad movies, probably mostly from childhood nostalgia, but the soundtrack legitimately kinda kills it.

That Flaming Lips song, Mazzy Star, Nick Cave, Sunny Day Real Estate, and that fucking Seal song!
