I'll have to check this out.

I've only heard "Deceit" of theirs, and I remember thinking something similar, that they were way ahead of their time in a lot of ways.

I believe it's off their new album, coming out in a few weeks.

Then you listen to Can's record Tago Mago and you realize all of this shit was done even before that!

Also Silver Apples are worth a listen if you really wanna venture down that road.

oh yea I'm a huge can fan. Ege bamyasi is one of my all time favorite albums. Silver apples is pretty sweet, didn't really get into em as much as I thought I would but definitely respect for that sound so early on.

That particular This Heat track sounds like a proto 90s dnb neurofunk track to me for some reason lol

Of course Holger would die a day later  :-\

He was my absolute favorite member of Can as I always got the feeling he was a bit of the "kook" (I mean this in the most endearing way possible) of the group. Just a brilliant creative type, who always struck me as being quite out to left field and endlessly upbeat.
It always annoyed me whenever I'd read some of the Krautrock book's or the Can book, and they'd interview Irmin or Jaki and any issue the band experienced later in their existence was generally blamed on Holger.

Anyways, I always found it interesting and perfect sense that Holger was personal friends with Lee Perry, and of course Brian Eno. Just sound geniuses that will never be replicated. Holger was also remarkable in the fact that he is often cited as the "godfather" of the practice of sampling which in his own right earns him credit in genres spanning beyond his own practice.

The first two Mercury Rev records are exceptional, especially "Yerself is Steam".

B Boys // Energy (Official Video)

Found these guys last week and have played both of their albums a bunch of times since. Really great post-punk stuff. This is the best music video I've seen in awhile too.

New METZ album. Really good, but seemed a bit short. It could just be that I'm really busy at work right now and albums usually fly by when I'm working. Either way, it's good. Stoked to see them next week.

Fuck yeah Shark Tits, I feel bad for anyone who hasn't had a "Smiths phase", usually coinciding with almost daily crying phase lol

This shit is still so good, "random character select, I have no luck, disconnect the smoke alarm when I show up"  :o

Re-TROS | Surrender | Watch out! Climate has changed, fat mum rises... (2009)

i found this really cool chinese post-punk band today. they have kind of a gothy vibe, very bauhaus influenced, but their songs have some really cool build ups and layering going on that reminds me of newer swans stuff (probably not the best relation, but it was the first that came to my mind). starts off a little slow, but its good stuff. i listened to their album from 09 and really dug it. they just put one out last friday and im about half-way through it right now and im glad i didnt start with that one because its not very good. they tried to introduce a bunch of electronic elements into their sound, but the result is not as exciting as the post punk stuff on the earlier albums. to me it sounds very out of touch and not like something that would be coming out in 2017.
