been digging this toxic planet soundtrack. pretty cool idea to get a band to do the whole soundtrack for a skate video. how many other videos have done this? i know habitat had mr dibbs do their section in photosynthesis and then had the greenhorns do some original tracks for mosaic but i cant think of any others.

Listened to the new Idles album today. I liked all the singles leading up to it, but musically this album doesn't hit as hard at their last. Lyrically it's got me fucked up though. I don't usually listen to lyrics but a lot of them on here are so dumbed down and blatantly in your face that you can't ignore them. A lot of the things he sings about are things I relate to and struggle with and bottle up, so hearing someone scream this shit out so confidently has me feeling some sort of way.

Trying to listen to UGK now to so I can get through my day not feeling like shit.

harpsichords sound so badass. I wish I owned one and could play the shit out of it like this.

Definitely agreed!

Do you listen to Oneohtrix Point Never?

"There are harpsichords all over Age Of, electronic composer Daniel Lopatin’s eighth studio album as Oneohtrix Point Never. It’s an instrument that Lopatin derides in press materials as a “perfectly dumb machine”—one that always reverberates the same, no matter how you strike the keys. That sound, reminiscent of parlors and powdered wigs, is used here to evoke the long, lingering continuity of the history of music, if not civilization itself. And it’s one Lopatin, with typical fervor, immediately sets about tearing to pieces..."

a harpsichord is a “dumb machine” but you can give a false sense of playing softer or harder with good composition and varying the playing speed. the way Oneohtrix distorts those harpsichord notes is cool. I’ll have to check out more of their music.
