Your Opinion on free stuff
« on: May 09, 2007, 11:26:41 AM »
If you were offered free skate gear like decks, wheels, trucks, bearings, etc.
ex.(Products like blank decks, venture trucks, swiss bearings, spitfire wheels)
from a company such as blankdecks.com that doesn't really support the industry of skateboarding.  You have no money to buy stuff from your local skateshop or catalog. (CCS, ACTIVE)
I'm not saying you have to support them by skating their products, but just using them.
Would you take the free products if you didn't have a skateboard?

is this even a question?  of course everyone and anyone would take it, free is the best deal in town!  ;D

heres a side question...
people(well mostly kids) like to think that pros get free product from all their sponsors but is it really "free"?

Well, most of us want to support the skateboarding industry by buying supplies from our skate shops.  If we buy from organizations that do not want to support the industry and only sell skate supplies for the profit; they run the legit companies out of business.  Kinda like how when a wal-mart opens in a small city or town except blankdecks isn't a big industry.

No, I don't consider it free. I worked for a co. for 7 years and they still send me decks and wheels when I need them. I definitely earned them. Skateboard companies don't really pay that well so the fringe benefits are really what makes it worth your time.

funny, my friend is in that exact situation. except he doesn't really give a fuck about the industry, he just wants to skate. kid would go through 4-5 boards a week, that a big whole in your wallet. as for myself, the only time anyone ever gave me something free was when I did I frontside shifty flip on flat infront of a drunk harold hunter..damn was I stoked on that day
