I think of skating as an art form, I try to make my art look good, not all dorky and protected by a CSA approved piece of plastic. So sue me. Are you a die hard Rodney Mullen or Todd Falcon fan or something?

But seriously, am I the only one here who thinks skating just wouldn't be the same, if you couldn't even skate to work without a helmet? I won't quit, I hoped to skate until I was in my forties, but I really don't want to wear a helmet. And I don't want to pay big fines and have my board stolen for not doing so.

I dislike wearing helmets too, but if I had a huge park in my town like you do and they started enforcing helmet laws, I'd wear one. I'm not going to miss out on skating a dope park just because I think I look weird when I have a helmet on.

did anyone see that thing on transworld about the dude who lives in micronesia and has to get in a canoe and go across a lake to skate on the top of an old cargo ship or somethin jsut cause its the only skateable surface there. pretty crazy.

to be honest it depends how they enforce it.the new park by me has a helmet rule but I've been wearing a hat for the last two weeks, before that i bought the shittest toys r us helmet which offers no protection but is light as fuck.I've even seen dudes at the park wearing papermache helmets!
fuck it, bend the rules and enjoy skating...

I don't just mean the skatepark.

I'm worried that if you're seen anywhere in the city without a helmet you'll get busted just for being a skater breaking the law.

we maybee have few skateparks here, but at least we're not busted just for skating...
but even with helmet you guys are lucky to have a good place to skate...

I was wondering how long before Heelys got it. I think this one is like a California law, it is a vehicle code so it only applies to the roads, not parks. Basically they just added skateboards to the bicycle helmet law. Cities and media don't read the laws, and a mass mailing went out with the wrong information. Everyone, even the cops thought it meant anywhere. But at least NM sounds like they just want the parents to get responsible, instead of what some are cities doing in skateparks, friggen $350 tickets. $10 is reasonable, just a token.
