when i first started skateboarding i went to the local park with some friends and didnt realize you needed pads and helmets and all, so i rented some grimy one from there. Literally, the next day i wake up and ive got this like...this is gonna sound kinda gross but, you know how rasberries are all red and bumpy? it looked like i had a rasberry growin out of my face, next to my right eyebrow. i went to two or three doctors and none of them knew what it was. eventually that turned into a scab, and about a month later the scab went away and i was left with this weird scar that looks like a crooked x, which i still have. every time i go to the doctors they try to get me to get it taken off, but i like it, makes me look gnar.

not exactly an injury, but a good cautionary tale for the youth about the perils of renting helmets

fractured ankle
a few rolled ankles
partially torn acl (physical therapy was the worst)
ingrown toenail, which is some serious shit. it hurt like a mother but i kept skating on it for months and i eventually got surgery to have half my toenail removed
every so often i fall on my ass and walk like an old man for days for no reason
bombed a hill and ran it out into a house, fucked my back up, couldnt skate for a couple weeks

all this and i consider myself very lucky

-numerous sprained ankles
-stitches in chin from hanging up on a jump ramp (my chin broke my fall on the asphalt)
-torn labrum in my shoulder that led to countless dislocated shoulders.  had to have surgery to correct it
-various permanent lumps under the skin near my hip
-razortail board to the eyebrow (should have gotten stitches, but didn't)
-gash on knee from an angle iron ledge (should have gotten stitches, but didn't)
-arthritis (symptom of ulcerative colitis).  It usually happens in my knees, but now I've got it in my left shoulder, left elbow, both hands, and my right ankle.  it comes and goes (had it in my left knee for the last 3 months)

split the bridge of my nose open horizontilly
duct taped gaping chin hole, twice
2 or 3 real gnarly head hits
undiagnosed knee injury, I think dislocated
dislocated elbow
broken finger

and I think that's it, skate-wise
I rarely venture into classic slap and the one time I do it I find a guy getting his dick eaten by a dolphin.

broken wrist , while i had this broken wrist i got my pointer finger cut open , 7 stitches and a little finger cast along with my arm cast , got the nickname war amp for a little while.

fractured right ankle in four places and utterly destroyed leg ligaments , this was five days deep into escaping a cold canadian winter , back to -35 , two months in a cast and another two rebuilding muscle.

rolled both ankles more times then i can remember , the most recent one trying to kickflip frontside wallride on this bank and just wedged my foot where the bank and flatground met

i was trying to do a frontside smith across this pyramid box and i jumped out of it and cut my right shin open very deeply and the edge of the sharp sharp end of the angle iron , that one was fun.

there was this wallride obstacle at the park that had like three parts , it went from the normal bank , to steeper bank , then to about 5 feet of wall.
I was trying to wallride it backside , came down wrong slid on my knee and cut it open on a nail sticking out

i was trying to 50-50 this very skinny bike rack , flew off near the end and gouged my left shin on the end of it

i have a scar on my back from getting stabbed running from a crazy fight in my neighborhood

scar on my head from when i was walking home drunk one night in my hometown last month and got jumped by 10 kids and bottled twice running at top speed

busted open top and bottom lip from getting in a crazy fight at some bush party , got my right front tooth knocked out but it was just dangling there. worst thing was , before i would get this root canal that had to follow in 6 weeks , they put a sediment on my right front tooth so it was glued to my front left one , it looked like i had one giant tooth for 6 weeks , this was in grade 11 to , sucked so bad , root canal wasn't to fun either.

holy shit man

Bruised my kidney, pissed blood for a week, just laid around fucked up on prescribed darvocet watching the first satori video loop over and over because I was too drugged up to move.

Prank called a kid about 20 times a day when I was 16. He found out it was me and headbutted me, breaking my nose. I kinda had it coming.

Fell down a waterfall in the grand canyon, blew out my knee, got helicoptered out. Have since been mocked for being so dumb that I fell into the grand canyon.

Here's a good one. Drunkenly fingerboarding with a knife as an obstacle, cut my finger open. Didn't do anything about it. It got infected, puss everywhere. Still have a fingerboarding scar.

Hippers are kind of fascinating to me. Anybody ever had one and had it blow up on you? Gross, and made me queesy, but in the end you get healed pretty good.
Are you a kook? If you would say this, the answer is “YES”
I quit skating for a time due to piling out
