Doesn't really count as learned since I'll probably never be able to do it again, but I landed a hardflip yesterday with all the shit luck in the world. Game of SKATE, T to T, I missed the sw fs heel that would've made me win, my buddy lands a hardflip that would've made him win. (I've never landed a hardflip in my life, barely even practiced them). First go was an expected fail. Second go was an inexplicable and 100% unexpected land land (clean too, didn't pretzel or toe drag it).
I've never yelled "WHAT ?!?" as loud as then

Switch front bigspins over a the hip at my local park. I've had them dialed on flat for almost a year now and finally got to learning them on a bank. I like it because I can do them 2 different ways now: full 360 with a little bit of pop or, huge pop landing at about 270, requiring a little bit of a powerslide. I landed the latter just as a swarm of BMXer's descended on the park on a coping denting mission.

ollie to front tailslides on transition, and i finally learned front smith grinds on a ledge. feels good man

ive lost any sort of proficiency i once had at flip tricks down drops of any size. it bums me out that i can barely kickflip down my park's waist-high 3 block now  :'(

Sounds amazing!

I did a really sketchy switch heel to frontboard on a flat rail. I almost cried after.

ha, i did one of those on accident when doing a blunt to pivot fakie on a little 4-foot ramp.  after i rode away i definitely went into middle-school mode, doing rock fakie, then fakie tail, then rock fakie, etc., trying to understand what had just happened.

I'd have to see it to fully understand, but it sounds like a cool trick!  Does anyone else's hip/back kill the day after doing pivots fakies?

that's how I skate tranny in general anyway, though I usually throw in 1-footed rock fakies and tail stall nosegrab hop to body-jars among other innumerable dork tricks so that nobody calls me out on sucking at tranny

I did hurt my back a couple weeks before that, but I just assumed the pain was from doing the twist motion over and and over.

Re-learned nollie backside flips for about the 10th time. I always learn them then forget to do them again.

Nollie frontside nosegrinds.

Backside 5-0 frontside 180 out - I always thought these were impossible and then I just suddenly had them.

front 5-0s on quarter pipes.
believe it or not, i never really bothered to learn them up until yesterday.  i had the little scrapers and stalls but never a full standing long one.  i didn't know speed was the key.  i was hauling ass at it, i must have grinded at least a good 20 feet or something and the quarter is curved and goes uphill.  i've never even done a fs 5-0 that long on curb or even a ledge before.  i gonna go back tomorrow and try to get them to 180 out or an overturn.  i'm hyped!

I had a big breakthrough this last week: 5050s on round bars.

I don't know why no one ever told me the key to this is just to lock it in on the heel side. All this time, I was actually trying to balance in the middle of the trucks... & I wondered why I couldn't stay on... yeah, I'm a little late to the party on this one...
