downloading music with macs...
« on: December 09, 2007, 11:45:09 AM »
now that albumbase is over and im broke and sick of not being able listen to anything new, ive been trying to download a file sharing program for the first time scince ive had my macbook, and ive been having mad problems, probably because i'm an idiot. the mac version of soulseek(soulsks or something) worked but it couldnt suck any bigger of a penis. and limewire, i tried downloading it from limewire.com and when i go to install it, it just keeps installing the installer over and over again, proceeding to piss me off to new levels. how do you guys do it ? :(

:'(

While I'm waiting to get my Waffles invite, I've been using:
http://sordo.freehostia.com/
and
http://albumhunt.com/
I believe AlbumHunt is from the same people as AlbumBase, since the sites are quite similar.

I'm hoping I still get.
I sent in my Oink info a few days before it went up, and they said it would take a little while for them to process all the requests, but it's been well over a month and still nothing, so I dunno. I'll let you know though.

And #1, there's this too, if you're looking for something specific that you still can't find on either of those sites:
http://shareminer.com/
It's kinda weird, but whatever.

Limewire is pretty terrible, you're not really missing much.

Thanks for those links WeTigers, I've been struggling without soulseek myself.

ever since oink went down i now use soulseex a lot more. if you know how to use the search properly and check regularly you can mind almost anything you're after. the amount of users sharing stuff is pretty amazing. as far as torrents go, waffles is pretty good at the moment. it's still not on the same level as oink but it's growing and has a decent community so far. free leech at the moment as well.

also like wetigers mentioned, you can find almost any album from 2007 using google as shareminer proves. so easy.

anybody know a site that lets you download full albums in like a zip file? i see the ones wetigers posted but anyone know something that would have more hendrix beatles and the likes? i found one on google but it says something about songs getting deleted in 90 days.
