Around 94 or 95 when all the skate companies where going really "tech" with their designs, I started skating in these canvas vulcanized nikes with a funny gingham lining.  I have no idea what they where called, but I saw an old lady wearing a pair on the bus the other day, so they must be good.

Suede Chuck Taylors. Original Jordans (always in bargain bins because nobody liked them at first).

I had those Lakers Weapons too. Board feel was a bitch, though.

Shit I ordered those from California SkateExpress in '91 then shoe-goo'd them after wearing holes through the canvas in 3 days—my first pair of "skate" shoes.

This summer I skated some shits that were kinda like this:

They were dope, mad padding, but I wore them really loose with the strap open.

When I was kid I had a pair of British knights and a pair of converse Weapons and I thought they both were great.
Really puffy, but in 89 they were sick.
Chuck taylors are my all-time favorite non skate shoes.

I worked at Eastbay for a summer and they gave all employees 40% off of their cost on K-Swiss, so I was burning through them at $15 or less a pair. I was laughing so hard when I found out that Lutzka is actually trying to skate in them professionally.

I couldn't find a fucking pic, but when I was little, I skated in these champions, they were orange, silver, and navy blue, and had what looked like tiny suction cups on the bottom. I can't remember the name of the shoe though, so any help finding a pic would be appreciated

These skated great, Dr J's. They were pretty popular among skaters back in the 90's. They look a lot like Kenny's new shoe - jugding by pictures of the KA-One the Dr J's look better.

These were great too. Adidas Norton. Paulo Diaz skated them a lot. They still make these, but someone told me they're a little different now. Anyone know if that's correct?

Nortons were the first Adidas skate shoe that were released in the mid 90's.

Nike GTS in the mid 90's... those were awesome!  This is what they generally looked like but the swoosh was different.

had to skate these today because my regular shoes finally blew out. the sole has the same pattern/grip as any other nikeSB vulc. decent boardfeel & they skate aiiight. almost too much boardfeel for me cuz my feet were slightly aching just havin a mellow sesh at the park, but thats prolly just from me wearing a cupsole w/ 2 insoles all the time.

i've probably skated 10 pairs of chuck taylor fakes from the local department store. just shoegoo em and throw in a vans pro sole and you're good to go. hella cheap and skates good.

nike force 180's. i think they have the "flight" 180s that are hightops as well. as far as regular shoes go they were pretty dope. i was happy to see that they had skateability as well. the strap doesnt get in the way if you actually have em strapped, especially since theyre higher up on the shoe.  i got em for like, $35 at some nike outlet in atlanta.

When I really got into skating as a kid, everyone I knew was rocking the Nortons. Most had them in navy but I got these khaki ones.
