wiki: TED (Technology Entertainment Design) is an annual conference held in Monterey, California and recently, semi-annually in other cities around the world. TED describes itself as a "group of remarkable people that gather to exchange ideas of incalculable value". Its lectures cover a broad set of topics including science, arts, politics, global issues, architecture, music and more.

these videos are probably on the top of the list of favourite things to see on the internet.

here's a couple really worth watching:

but seriously, every single one i've seen is absolutely amazing. my personal favourite:

David Gallo: Underwater astonishments

the price to go there? forget about it. there's an ebay auction where they're selling one, and i think from that you can see how difficult/expensive this event is... so i'm glad the vids are available on the net.
