Just started skating these weird sock suedes I got at Ross. Flick is great but they gave me some gnarly heel blisters first day I skated em

Any idea what this model is called? It's an unpopular opinion but I personally love shoes with those dumb ass little bootie thingies

Those look really nice - although I'm a little disappointed they didn't make them look more like the original 420.

Very eager to hear how they skate.

Here's my thoughts on them that I posted from another thread, with some other details.

If you're looking for a really good low cup, the 420's are pretty great, they just take a little bit longer to break in. Really breathable, the upper is pretty durable, and once they've broken in, super grippy. Just be sure to go down a half size, since I went with my regular size, sometimes I can feel my foot slide now that upper is broken in. Don't worry if you have wide feet, the way the upper is built it'll conform to your foot. Grip pattern is really good along with the board feel once broken in, because first session board feel is meh and the grip feels slippery, but will be a lot better by the second or third. You'll be use to the upper by the end of the first session, and due to the nature of its material, it gets grippier as you use it.

Best part of the imo though is the fact that if the shoe gets dirty, you can wipe it down with a wet paper towel and bam looks good as new again.

Puma suede classic sock, wouldn't recommend them unless you want to turn your ankles into ground beef. Oddly enough regular suedes never gave me this problem.

Emerica Switch’s look just like I-Path Crickets.

Seeing those old emericas makes me wonder how they made it to 2018.

Literally looks nothing like that shoe

It is a bit of a stretch. Mainly just the bulk and the bottom two eyelets being lace loops.

One of the grippiest and best fitting shoes out of the box I’ve ever had.

I got em' in black, but the forefoot is too thick for me to skate in them - hard to feel the concave. Still really like the shoe, hoping maybe after 6 months of wearing around they'll be worn out enough in the forefoot to try skating.

For now I'm gonna skate some Etnies Scams with a nice Globe insole. They feel amazing.

Oh really?! I think they feel fine. If the front of the some was any thinner I think they’d feel like a Vulc (which is bad to me lol.)

Yeah, it was the sock liner thing that was the issue. I’ve just cut it out though so this might make it better

^For me Era Pros fit great while on the Authentic Pros I get a ton of heel lift no matter what. Maybe I have narrow heels cuz I’ve had that happen on a bunch of other shoes as well. Way less than 25% of all shoes I’d say though. 🤔

I like the simple classic look on both of them but prefer the look on the Authentics.

Haha yea I got a deal on these that I couldn't get on the Eras. So far they do feel great but it's just not the same. Next time I'm getting some Era pros.

The little collar padding eras have is next to nothing anyways

Gotta pair of Dunk Hi's i really like but the high top part is so awkward while skating. i wanna convert these highs into mids or even a low.. anyone have experience doing this with Dunks? I saw a video online but was pretty useless cause they just cut the collar without anything else

ive cut janoski mids into lows it was nothing, dunno how itd work with dunks but i presume itd be the same as back in the day when people cut full cabs into half cabs etc. i think the super long tongue would look dumb as fuck though.

oh I had those, exact same colorway too, loved them. IIRC I didn't think the forefoot was thick but you definitely have just a little wee bit of snug space around the toes that feels a bit weird at first (exactly how Halfcabs are, to me at least), but I broke that in in like 30 minutes on the first day and the shoe felt perfectly comfortable from then on. really most States you can just skate fresh out of the box, that's another key thing I like about them (along with functionality and durability)

what is that shoe, looks like a c1rca shoe...

The seam at the back of the collar on Eras is too rigid - always cuts up my skin on my achilles/heel. Never had that problem with Authentics.

Opposite for me - Authentics don't have a padded collar -eras do.

I’ve got the same pair. I prefer the authentic to the era. For me they seem to hold their shape better. Might just be because they’re canvas though
