pink panther - an abandoned 70's concrete skatepark hidden in the woods behind Pink Panther trailer park
Most fun place ever.
On the Baton Rouge side:
Cat Banks: Some bumps at the bottom of some pillars that were next to a shopping/wanna be cultural area called Catfish Town. That was back when I was a kid, and the Cat Banks were old even then.
Galvez: A specific part of the Centroplex with a three up to quick six down, a short and tall ledge, and an area surrounded by three stairs. This area is the courtyard to one of downtown's public libraries, but it's weird because the real Galvez (the area's distinctive name) as about four or five blocks away towards the capitol.
The Wall: In downtown BR, at Premiere Bank on Florida... there are two rectangular structures made of bricks that have tight transitions coming up from the ground, which is also brick. There's one of these on either side of the building. You'd think it would all be referred to as "The Walls," but it used singularly because there's traditionally only been one part of the wall that you could skate without being seen or heard by security. The recent removal of some brick planters might change that though, adding to the real skatability of the place.
Here in Hammond, we also have a place that we refer to as "The New Spot"... it's been called that for years now. It's just a bank parking lot with a coupe of manny pads, but the concrete is really smooth and great for flat or dragging boxes/rails out.
