Barley didn't do the barley grind first
Bennett didn't do the Bennett grind first
Suski did not do the first Suski grind
Are there others?

And I'm pretty sure that Sean Penn could only do Sean Penns to revert.
I dunno if anyone else has heard this, but a kid at the skatepark was doing f/s 5-0 nosegrabs on a ledge, and he called them Corey Duffel grinds. No lie.

I remember a while ago seeing the skatecamp section of one of the h-street videos, I forget which one, but its the one where they are rapping over it like "hella concave!" there is this double rail down some stairs and people do "barley grinds" "bennett grinds" and hurricanes. I also saw somewhere that Ryan Wilburn claims Barley grinds, having done them sometime between that h-street video and welcome to hell.

ahh, any trick named after a person is typically a trick that went nameless till someone made it their own.

but Steve Olson showed Koston the k grind at some skate camp when they were both kids, or some shit. Maybe skate church situation? I dunno

i saw him do this a few weeks ago on a bank to ledge.  regardless if he did it first or not, it's his trick, no question.

I knew what you meant, but I'll take any chance I can to poke fun at Josh. As far as I know, the trick tip vid thing is actually called a Hospital flip.(I don't think those were invented in hospitals, though.) For a casper flip, you actually gotta use your back foot like Mathias did. In my opinion, all credit should go to Bill Pullman for actually reviving casper from his ghostly state, but Pullman flip just doesn't have the same ring to it.

Hospital flips? That's almost a freestyle trick, Louie Barletta does one in man down, where you start with your board upside down, your back foot under the tail, and your front foot on the front truck (by now, it already fucking hurts, if you don't commit, it could be potentially hazardous to the well being of your foot, hense the name Hospital flip), and then you lean forward lifting the tail off the ground, balancing on the nose, teetering forward till eventually you flip the board end over end and land on it.

Louie does it into a ditch to tail drag, falls off his board, chases it down and stabs it with a shard of debris.

hahahah, raincheck'd gnar, it's a commin.

I could be wrong, but the dude that schooled me on the hospital flip has been skating for like 25 years.

How stoked would we all be if the forward flip aka the dolphin flip was first excecuted by a dolphin?

casper flip is what we've always called it around here, where it flips upside down and you flip it back over.

this trick is rare in videos, i dont even know if i can name 5. southie in whl, carroll doing it nollie in goldfish, templeton in a new deal vid on a popular schoolyard hip, thats all i can think of, and that took me a bit to think of. though my friend does a really really good one into a bank at the beginning of this:

MJ did one super kicked out into grass in Bag of Suck. Creager did one nollie off of a bump, cant even remember which vid right now. Bobby Rodriguez did one b/s on a bank in Death of a Videomag. I remember some am doing one with a half cab up a curb, can't remember who tho. OH! There's like 4 of them w/ a back 180 in KOTR 07.
Sorry for nerding out right there.

Mj's and Creager's weren't casper flips.
Mj's was some weird reverse one.
Creager;s was like a nollie forward flip, or nollie late inward heel.
Another fan of the casper flip and its variations is the oh-so-popular Austin Seaholm

MJ's is definately the same trick that the kid is doing in the trick tip vid, he just kicked it out real far. But yeah I was wrong about Creager.

I'm just saying, I've done a lot of casper flips, they used to be one of my favorite tricks, I tend to stick to more traditional tricks lately, but all the other ones that have qualified so far look like the ones I have done, aside from Carrolls in goldfish because it was obviously nollie, Mj's is a bit different, its not just the way he kicks it out, maybe he does a heelflip one or something, I don't know. Its a lot like a casper flip, but its some really weird trick that is similar I'm pretty sure. I'll watch it again though, just to be sure, and figure out what makes it different if it is.

How about extending it to tricks people did invent that they named after themself.
Vert pros in the 80's were all about it.

I think Creager's trick was a nollie varial underflip kind of Julio De La Cruz thing.  It was in 20 shot sequence.
