i read a book about something like this in 5th grade, it might have actually been called AVALANCHE! some kid lived for days trapped in one of those barely being able to wiggle his fingers or toes. it freaked the fuck out of me

Those were actually two different avalanche shots, the one that caught him wasn't that big. But usually, you have a bunch of experts around when filming at locations like that.
