Into the Wild

I wasn't feeling it at first, because I could not identify with that dude at all. I think human relationships are pretty important. As he learned new things, I really started liking the movie. I don't know how clean a hippy is, but I fell in love with Tracy T. *Spoiler*: I don't know if I've ever wanted the protagonist in a movie to survive more than I did with this character.

I love both of these. I make it a point to see any movie Denzel Washington is in.
The answer is Dutch Masters, you fat fucking catastrophe.

that's one of the places i think the movie failed the book, and where i relate to the McCandless character.  the book notes that while McCandless would come and go out of peoples' lives, and spend much time alone, it wasn't that he didn't value other people or the time he spent with them.  on the contrary, he valued his human interactions greatly, but he still felt the need to remain untethered emotionally and go off by himself (for various reasons).  although my parental upbringing was a lot more loving than his, i can definitely identify with his need for solitude, and i imagine many others can as well.

it's hard to explain loners to non-loners, i guess.  i love my friends as much as i'm sure McCandless loved his, but sometimes you just gotta get away from everyone and do your own thing.  i think Sean Penn understands that, which (i would guess) is why he was attracted to the story, and why he took that point for granted and didn't really explain it.

I just recently saw "The Crossing" in the theater over here.

It's the story of North Koreans trying to leave for greener pastures.

It's based upon the stories of real refugees who are currently living in South Korea.

It's a really well made movie, but it's also really sad.

I think everyone should watch it

Death Race 2000. It was on that old movie channel. Easily one of the most ridiculous movies I've ever seen.

oh man, this movie rules.   One of the best quotes was when Frankenstien says "I'm built to be the best racer on earth...this year" or something like that.   To bad hollywood is remaking it:

Watched that last night, it was alright.
I dunno, I can never really get into horror movies with paranormal stuff going on. They need to be grounded in reality to be enjoyable for me.

Spoiler alert, I guess, but I dunno why the kid didn't just wish not to have AIDs.
Now the both of them have to spend all of eternity hanging out with fucked up ghost orphans, and the husband is a childless widow.

I think you have to be in a certain mindset to watch horror movies and appreciate them, i watched The Mothman Prophecies and didnt flinch the first time I watched it, then I saw it again by myself and got so into it I could have shit my pants even though its not that scary of a movie, more creepy, same with orphanage, it freaked the shit out of me and the ending left me depressed for a week, i couldnt stop thinking about it, but now i want to watch it again

I watched Cloverfield a few days ago with low expectations and liked it. Then I watched The air I breathe and stopped at 50 minutes in because it sucked.

yeah, saw this last year.  Pretty crazy how they made it.  Just put 4 cameras on the bridge for a year and caught over 20 suicides on tape.  Very creepy.

anyways, saw this, and it was much better/funnier than I was expecting.

I watched a couple films from The Up series last night.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Up_Series
Really good concept, they take a bunch of seven year olds from Britain from various locations and social backgrounds and film updates on them every seven years, starting in the 60's. It's fucking weird/often depressing seeing how few lives stay on track with what they want to do.
Most of the early ones are on Google Video if you search 'Michael Apted'. I'd recommend it.
