I don't have kids anymore (ex girlfriend had kids) but I really want to see Secret life of Pets.

I don't have kids and I saw the shit out of that movie. It's great.

Watched The Hateful Eight last night. I am a fan of all Tarontino films. This wasnt my favorite of his but still a fun watch.

It dragged for me, like really dragged. There was a couple of great moments there but I kept waiting for shit to hit the fin and was sorta underwhelmed when it did. Meh, I was on a plane and didn't have anything else to do so it killed a few hours. Not sure if I could rewatch though

Impish sausage is definitely gonna blow up as a euphemism this year

That shit is good. I feel like scratching my feet just watching it.

You and the D00D have turned this thread into a horrible head-on-collision between a short bus full of regular kids and a van full of paraplegics.

Entertaining but kinda underwhelming, considering I've heard a lot of good things about it.  I saw the twist coming from a mile away, but a good watch regardless... and yeah, pretty violent.  B-

Surprisingly good documentary about the Boston hahdcore scene... one that was kinda ridiculous and overly-serious but made some damn good records.  Some great interviews, including Jake Phelps which was pretty rad, and shockingly Henry Rollins or Ian Mackaye weren't involved (since they're in pretty much every punk rock doc, ever). B+

Me dig this one... damn good Scottish film about a young, bookwormy kid growing up in Glasgow in the 70's and getting involved with gangs, and ends up going bad.  A typical coming of age story, but well worth it for dialogue (even WITH subtitles it was hard to understand) , the clothes (total mod/skinhead/glam/bay city rollers) and a good soundtrack, too.  In the same vein as Made In England or Green Street Hooligans.  A

Dead calm. There's only 3 characters  (& a dog) somehow you're rooting for all of them. Open seas are terrifying.

I havn't seen it yet, but I thought the trailer was funny when the dogs were headbanging to bounce by SOAD, a song that is definitely not for kids, but in a kids movie lol.

The most recent movie I saw in theaters was Hell or High Water.  It was only in select theaters at the time so I don't know how many people really know about it.  Good solid movie.

Just saw Hell or High Water in the theater last night. It's not super fast paced, but I really liked it. It's always interesting to see portrayals of small towns in places like West Texas, which are like a different country. I thought the acting was really good too. One of those movies you go home and think about for a while.

No Country for Old Men is on netflix right now. I'd never seen it before. I liked it a lot.

All movies like that that are set in the desert make me want to move there. I know its miserably hot, but it looks so rad.

I briefly thought this was the book thread so I'll see myself out. Not before I say, Cormac McCarthy is the shit. I'm about to hit Netflix to see if The Road is there, just finished the book and it's fantastic. If a Blood Meridian adaption ever comes out, I'll attend the premiere. No Country for Old Men is one hell of a movie. The book is definitely exciting and quality stuff, but the film is just at a whole other level. Good stuff.

The Road is on Netflix. And I started reading The Road while on a vacation, and sat on my hotel porch for 4 hours and finished the whole thing. Couldn't put it down. The movie is solid, but obviously not as good as the book, but still worth checking it out.

I've been renting Criterion movies from the library. I watched Red then Blue then White over the course of a few weeks. I like Blue the most.

oh, i was refering to the documentary "electric boogaloo" about cannon films, not the movie "electric boogaloo" that cannon films produced in the 80s!
and in that documentary the talk about golan & globus doing their own documentary about cannon- i didn't see that one!

'WE have eternity to get to know your flesh. So many pleasures.'
Great lines in that movie.  I watched a che Guevara documentary, whatever ya think of him the revolution must've been the dope show. All the skaters & farmers overthrowing security guards & having a big skate orgy in Havana when it's over.
(I'M re-imagining it in modern times)

I watched Seven for the first time and really enjoyed it. I already knew the ending because of pop culture references to it but I don't think it ruined it for me. I still somehow felt surprised. This was the first time in a long time that I've watched a movie and not thought "alright how much longer until this is over?" I'm surprised to read that a lot of people find it overrated. Thoughts?
