I agree with "entertaining enough". Gone Baby Gone is the superior movie though and aside from Ben Affleck and the word "Gone" there are no similarities.

Just finished watching The Ballad Of Buster Scruggs on Netflix. I really enjoyed it.

Am I the only one who didn’t like Buster Scruggs? Felt no connection/interest in any of the stories, and it was so dull.

I recently watched Roma and loved it. I can totally see why people may call it boring but it was incredibly moving I thought. Once I looked at it as a love letter to the women in Cuaron’s life from a fly on the wall pov it was really affecting. Oh and the filming is absolutely beautiful.

Leave No Trace was pretty good but a bit predictable and depressing. Ben Foster and the girl who played his daughter were great though.

Still need to catch up on so many 2018 films.

El Topa, Serbian film, Saló, Bad Batch, The Holy Mountain, and several other Indy films.

The only one I didn't like was Serbian film, although fictional andore to point of shock and torture porn, the story was meh at at best. If I'm going to be watching something it better be worth it.

I think the most negative reviews of BS I've seen, have said that it's just mediocre.
You didn't even feel anything when Zoe Kazan merc'd herself?

I'm going to see Roma at a theater in a couple hours, pretty excited.
Honestly the plot does sound kinda boring to me, but from all the clips I've seen, it looks like it was shot amazingly.

It is beautiful, but it is also boring, in my opinion. I just couldn't get over them letting the dog shit all over the garage without picking it up. I don't care about what your culture is. Pick up the shit on your garage floor.

Silver Bullet - fairly decent Stephen King werewolf-novel adaptation from the early 80's with a very young Corey Haim and Gary Busey.  It does this weird thing where it goes from R-rated horror to weird family friendly style... im not sure what to make of it.

(Sidebar - i LOVE the mythology of Werewolves and love a good Werewolf movie.... however there's only like, two or three that are any good.  Does anybody have any obscure Werewolf movies they can recommend?  The Howling is the best, Werewolf in London behind that... other than that it's pretty bleak.  Curse of the Werewolf is ok for those Hammer style movies)

Irreversible
- well fuck... I've heard a lot about this movie over the years, on how it's supposed to be one of the most disturbing, hard-to-watch movies ever made; on how half the audience walked out at it's Cannes debut and how people fainted at the premiers.  Since it's on Amazon prime, I decided to check it out... Hmm.

It's definitely disturbing... the rape scene is probably the worst movie rape scene ever and seems to go on forever, and is extremely hard to watch.  Probably one of the harshest scenes I've ever seen.  The extreme violence (outside of the rape scene) wasn't too extreme.
I could definitely see why people walked out, as you get dizzy with the handheld camera and constant spinning and circling around to add to the chaos.  It definitely works, but at more than a few points you want to grab the fucking camera man and tell him to hold fucking still.

The movie itself is well-done.  It's one of those "starts at the end and goes backward" films, and it really works and changes the dynamic from a rape/revenge movie to something way more thought-provoking and intense.  It's one of those movies, like The Vanishing, where the torment is in your head.

here's a good review of you're interested.

One of the most polarising films ever made? I'm still not sure if I like it or not.

First Reformed was pretty much as great as I heard, Ethan Hawke is one of my favorites.

Good Time was enjoyable and everything looked cool, but it felt like a more shallow movie than they thought they were making? And like it was aping Nicolas Winding Refn and some other directors too hard at times.

It was awesome to hear an OPN score in a pretty big movie too, pretty crazy he did a song with Iggy Pop for it.

Parts of this movie were too twee for me, but overall really touching. Very good.

Philip Seymour Hoffman voices one of the main characters too, which is another plus.

Never been super into Lars Von Trier, but The House That Jack Built was actually pretty good, I mostly just watched it cause of all the controversy around it.

I don't dislike Queen, but Bohemian Rhapsody was a seriously bad movie.
Not even just saying that cause of the Bryan Singer connection either, I'm genuinely confused by the amount of love and accolades it's been getting.
