i personally though ice cube's debut performance was astonishingly good... in the scene where he's gunning down the last dude there was so much inner conflict, holy shit.

I watched these on my flight back home

I liked the White Ribbon a lot more, Up In The Air was a standard Reitman movie, the overuse of "hip" bands was really annoying, Thank You For Smoking was the only movie I really liked that hes made, hated Juno sorry to say

the cinematography in white ribbon was rad, I wish I didnt know it was nominated though and be surprised by it than be looking for something and being let down, regardless it was good, depressing at parts but good

White Ribbon should have won the Academy Award for best cinematography.

This movie was really well edited, it just went from one important scene to the next. The visually captivating scenes played in perfect & weren't too long and meshed in well overall with the dialogue heavy scenes. The whole movie worked well. And although I was rooting between Bullock and Sidibe for Best Actress, I'm glad Bullock won after seeing this. I still need to see Blindside, but I don't think Sidibe's performance requested too much of her--her scenes were largely visually-based and she shone in just a handful. Monique on the other hand, fucking killed it. Glad she got the Oscar & Golden Globe.

Her appreciation gives me goosebumps.

just saw alice in wonderland, that said, the last good movie i saw was shutter island.  alice in wonderland was the same old tired tim burton stuff.  visually ehh...showed me that 3d technology has been the same since 1996.

damn even her acceptance speech was oscar-worthy.  in terms of the "politics" of the academy, i think they want to revamp the image with more-than-usual black nominations (when more black people SHOULD have been nominated/won over the years).  good to see they're giving oscars to people who deserve them.

There have been some great new 3-D movies that have pushed the envelope, Alice in Wonderland was not one of them.

I've been showing Spike Jonze's Adaptation to my girl but we left at some place after the first 10 minutes so it's for soon...one my favorite of all times.

i've re-rent some of the classics :

Jim Jarmusch DEAD MAN
CHILDREN OF MEN (awesome as fuck)
TAXI DRIVER
EASY RIDER
OLD BOY

trying to get a hold on FRESH the new york movie with Samuel and a young cat who play chess and save his sister from a coke dealer.
trying to get a hold on DOWNTOWN 1980 (i think its the good title) a movie with Jean-Michel Basquiat in it.

its called downtown 81, and it really isnt worth watching unless you're a fan of new york culture otherwise its just gonna be a weird "art school" film with no real plot
