Just watched Solaris - Russian film from 1972. It's about a space station that materializes human thoughts
into matter utilizing the station's 'force field' and something about radiating the ocean. Once accustomed to
the absurdity, it was a unique experience. From the moment they board the station, there is an eerie, stoic,
dreamlike atmosphere made apparent. The hallways are empty and scattered with debris. Only 2 of the original
3 station workers remain. Our hero Kris Kelvin is compelled to find answers.

FECK YES, pretentious overly long exclusively conversational existentially themed movies ftw.
Despite all that, Solyaris is still likely in my top 20 movies ever. It's just so damned different - if you have the attention span.

EDIT: Also, you could've condensed your entire synopsis into "a space station on a planet that is actually a living entity" and I think people would've bought it. It's so damned unique.

That is a valid point.

You and the D00D have turned this thread into a horrible head-on-collision between a short bus full of regular kids and a van full of paraplegics.

ive never seen it.... generally tho tarkovsky is the kind of the you have to watch at least ONE of his films for. you might be bored as fuck, but at the same time i every time i see a tarkovsky film i really walk away from it thinking that those were actually a coupe hours well spent. their unique as fuck, even if the camera never moves for half hours at a time and conversations never end.

Been working my way through my recent purchases. First time watching History of Violence, kind of surprised it's so well-received.

I've been wanting to watch History of Violence, but haven't bought it yet. 8 1/2 is on my list for movies to watch, but haven't found the time. Also added this to my "what I want to watch" list.

I watched Yojimbo and Seven Samurai the other day. Both really fun. Sanjuro is next, and sword of doom looks pretty dope.

Kurosawa's Throne of Blood is, in my opinion, probably the best film adaptation of Macbeth and the most original.
