At first I didn't like it, but now I think The Expendables was just about the worst movie I have seen this year.
i know its gonna be a mindless action flick but is it even fun to watch? i was thinking about catching this since i enjoy corny action movies every once in a while.

I love mindless action flicks and a lot of these actors were in a lot of films I loved as a kid.  This one is just TOO mindless.  Here are my issues:

1.  The first five minutes ruled.  But after that, it slowed way down and had some of the worst dialogue ever, that wasn't even bad in a humorous way.

2.  The majority of the fights were way too short and shot way to close (I am guessing to disguise some of the choreography, these dudes are pretty old).

3.  The villain sucked.

4.  The CGI blood was some of the worst I have ever seen.  Like, so bad it was distracting in parts.  Corn syrup works just fine and always has.

5.  A lot of the guys were more or less just cameos and when the funniest lines come from Jet Li, you know there are some issues.

I mean, I am trying not to sound like I thought this was going to be some cinematic masterpiece, because even the movie knows it isn't going to be a monument to film making, but it was kinda just boring.  I could've edited the whole thing down to about 30 minutes and been happy.

They should have just called this movie Spike TV: The Movie because that is all it is.
right on. guess ill get my campy entertainment elsewhere.
my first 2 years of college have been impressive. Can you say the same?

My cousin bought Raging Bull the other day, and I know anything with Deniro/by Scorsese is damn good, so with the two, you know it's fucking good. Really stoked.

I saw the graduate for the first time yesterday. LOVED it.

Aso saw HaraKiri by Masaka Kobayashi. Another samurai
flick, but not as light hearted as Kurosawa. Worth cheking
for sure.

after listening to liquid swords today i felt like rewatching shogun assassin

For anyone who wants to watch Shogun Assassin, don't do it! Rather watch the six original Lone Wolf and Cub films! Shogun Assasin doesn't do them any justice!

Apparently its got more blood use than Brain Dead, if so, I'll see it. I'm a big fan of the original.

I watched Citizen Kane last night, it was alright but a little disappointing considering people call it the "best movie ever made". Maybe I watched it with too high of expectations.

Same here, watched it 2 years ago in my Film studies class, I hated it. Couldn't stand Casablanca either.

Surprisingly never heard of street trash, looked it up on youtube and read the synopsis on wikipedia, sounds like a Troma movie, I liked what I saw though.

Orson Welles made that film when he was what...22? I mean, what the fuck are most guys doing today at 22? Masturbating?

I thought Citizen Kane was a very watchable movie. There were LOTS of innovative things about that film in terms of narrative and story and the technical shit.

Yeah, as far as film craft goes, it's pretty much unfuckwithable.

You and the D00D have turned this thread into a horrible head-on-collision between a short bus full of retarded kids and a van full of paraplegics.

Correct, I think people get confused about Citizen Kane's reputation. It's known for being one of the most well-crafted films of all time, not really "the best movie ever". Big difference there.

who cares. it's all a matter of opinion anyway. "well-crafted"
could certainly mean a number of different things.

I agree, any Lynch film for me takes like complete focus. Especially Eraserhead. That took a few tries.
