I didn't put two and two together that that's the same dude from Inception, until the talk about the new Batman started.  Bronson is fucking awesome.

You and the D00D have turned this thread into a horrible head-on-collision between a short bus full of regular kids and a van full of paraplegics.

watched 2001: A Space Oddyssey for the first time last night, holy fuck that movie is sick!
so much to see and enjoy, really a great experience for eyes, ears and mind, and not just for a 1968 film.

Oscar Noms came out today

Im hoping for Kings Speech, Colin Firth, Christian Bale, Roger Deakins to win

would be nice for Roger Deakins to finally fucking win, dudes the best living cinematographer, has been nominated 9 times for the following

The Shawshank Redemption
Fargo
Kundun
O Brother, Where Art Thou?
The Man Who Wasn't There
No Country for Old Men
The Assassination of Jesse James
The Reader
True Grit

if he doesnt this year it will probably go to Wally Pfister for Inception, he also kills it

I'm going to have to kindly disagree with you. That title goes to Christopher Doyle.

saw both of these movies over the weekend

it was my second time seeing True Grit and it was so enjoyable the second time around. i don't know if it was the weed or the booze, but i couldn't stop laughing throughout the movie. some of the dialogue is pretty hilarious. found out today that that girl (Hailee Steinfeld) is actually 14 years old. can't believe how good of an actress she is.

Christian Bale is such an amazing actor. plays a crackhead so well in The Fighter. Mark Wahlberg was good in it, but Bale is on a whole other level. wasn't expecting to like this one that much, but it really surprised me.

i'd highly recommend both of them. (and i'm stoked that Hailee and Christian both got their supporting actor Oscar nominations today. they both deserve it imo.) oh, and i just found out my local shitty theater has Black Swan. can't wait to finally see it already.

I kind of agree to an extent. Gary Oldman seems to always get snubbed.

Jeff bridges for best actor

Jeremy Renner for supporting.

Inception will most likely win....but I'm pulling for true grit. Watch fucking toy story win or some shit.

Even though Colin Firth will probably get best actor, I really think James Franco should for 127 Hours. Portman hands down for best actress. Bale has best supporting actor in the bag, absolutely amazing in The Fighter. Maybe it was the high expectations I had for True Grit, but I just didn't think it was all that great. With that said, Hailee Steinfeld deserves serious recognition for best supporting actress. The Social Network is my guess for best picture. Damn looking back at all these movies makes me realize how shitty last year was with all that Avatar, Blind Side, and Precious bull shit.

I'd rather see Jennifer Lawrence take Best Actress, Black Swan isn't really worth all the buzz it's getting in my opinion. I would like to think that the scene with Portman shouting "SHUUUUT UUUUP!!!!" at the screaming portraits on the wall would be enough to disqualify her. It'll be interesting to see how it goes regardless, still haven't seen a few of the year's big ones yet either.

saw black swan a couple nights ago....wasnt feeling it at all...just seems so obvious, girls going crazy and acting nuts and vindictive and jealous, etc....nothing groundbreaking about that haha.

You're all nuts.

Social Network- Best Picture

Colin Firth- Best Actor

David Finch- Best Director (it's his time, in what is almost a flawless career)

Natalie Portman- Best Actress

Christian Bale- Best supporting

Best supporting Actress- still up in the air

Cinematography- Wally Pfisher or Roger Deakins, thats a tough one

Aaron Sorkin- Best Adapted Screenplay

They showed the three hour version in a theatre here, pretty solid but I'm kind of curious what's missing from the full length series.

^ that looks great, loved that version of 'Stardust' at the end of the trailer, and Melanie Laurent is so damn sexy

Rivers Edge was set to be on tv and I was trying to record it, but the channel fucked up and scheduled a different movie, which ended up being The Age of Innocence with Daniel Day Lewis, hadnt seen it so it was a good surprise

Still want to see Rivers Edge though

So the Age of Innocence is good? Read that book in a class last semester and was pretty curious when I found out Scorcese did an adaptation. Might have to look into it.
