the original is amazing!!!  with this new one i spent most of the time asking myself what the fuck was going on.  nick cage is truly out of his mind, kinda want to see his "wicker man" remake now

We Need To Talk About Kevin - 7.5/10 - Solid as fuck. I kind of wish they went into more detail with the planning Kevin did for what he did. I thought John C Riley was definitely miss-cast for this film.

Sherlock Holmes 2 - 7/10 - I enjoyed the last one, so I went & saw this with a homie. Thought it was really decent. Every twist was really obvious though. I can't remember the last time I've seen a movie where the whole cinema is sold out.

Eden Lake - 5/10 - Didn't expect that ending. Ehh Brittish films in general  :P

Bound- 7/10 - Low budget gangster film. Fucking sick.

Interesting that you say "Ehh British Films" when We need to talk about Kevin has a British Director, British Leading Actress and is distributed by a British Company and Produced by two British Studios. While Sherlock Holmes 2 has a British Director, British supporting Actor, pretty much all British Cast about from Robert Downey Jr and was filmed and set primarily in Britain.

Not to mention that Holmes is one of the most classic of British characters in the last hundred years.

You and the D00D have turned this thread into a horrible head-on-collision between a short bus full of regular kids and a van full of paraplegics.

I actually really enjoyed this movie. Maybe because I'm a bibliophile and I loved the "cameos" you can say of famous writers, etc.
Owen has been sick since I first saw him in that Yeah Right! little skit they did. He's tight.

this was pretty fucking awesome:

You can what you like about the plot and how accurate the portrayal of Thatcher is but Meryl Streep is stunning in this, gets everything down to accent and demeanour absolutely perfect. If she doesn't get the Oscar for Best Actress i'll eat my hat.

There is something so quietly depressing about this movie. It made me feel terrible after watching it by also strangely satisfied. Mike Leigh is really good at tearing at the heart strings.

I think someone else on here is doing it too, but I'm trying the 365 days of movies. Already fell behind, but just watched Taking Lives and it's very good. Also wanted to mention a lovely sex scene with Angelina Jolie.

That's actually what I was thinking too.
There seemed to be a lot of loose ends and I felt like the book version probably justifies it much better.

I like Mike Leigh. I've only seen Naked, Topsy Turvey and Happy Go Lucky

My liking of Mike Leigh could be related to my fixation of regional accents and stuff though.

Watch Career Girls. It's maybe my favourite Leigh film.
I've had Another Year on my hd for months now, still can't decide to watch it since all his films are pretty moving and I don't need something to further my winter blues.

I need to check out those earlier Leigh films, not sure if i've seen any.
I found Another Year to be far more on the uplifting side than depressing.
Have to admit though that I was pretty confused at times during the movie,
because for some reason I had the impression that the wife dies in it and it's about
how the husband deals with that.
