Nice different kind of French WWII movie. Last scene is great.

Good.

If you like french films by Louis Malle and/or Robert Bresson...

Brad Pitt kills it. The scene with him making quick trades on the phone stood out in particular as just too fucking slick.

Haven't seen The Descendants but I still have no idea what I want to win Best Picture.

Midnight in Paris or Moneyball for me, surprised but not surprised that Drive only got 1 nomination.

I saw Haywire. Good cast, did not like the movie. Soderberg definitely has a weird style. The music is just like the music from Oceans 11, really upbeat sort of 70's elevator music with a beat, throws off the whole mood of it.

It had some good action scenes but the acting was atrocious at times, Gina Carano, as good as a fighter she is, is not an actress, and neither is Channing Tatum, that guy sucks

Fassbender was the only good part about the movie

The movie also features 2 of the slowest chase scenes of all time, one in the streets of barcelona, and on in the forest, and not a good slow chase scene like this one

Slow chase from The Way of the Gun

This. Absolutely loved it. Brad Pitt has been killing it these last few years. Aging like wine (acting wise).

Even though I loved Drive, I can see how it didn't get nominated for very much. What I don't understand is how films like We Need To Talk About Kevin and Melancholia didn't get a single nomination. Fucking Oscars

Anyways,

Amazing film. Michael Shannon is great

Yeah I saw this in a theater a week or so back. I was really into it until the last few scenes. SPOILER ALERT 1.) The scene where he had to open the door himself was drawn out way too long with some annoying as high pitched music 2.)I was bummed they saw the storm at the end and that she said "ok" or whatever. Felt like a cop out.
I thought it wasnt just him solo, shouldve stuck with my og thought.

Fuck I remember watching that trailer and being really hyped for Waltz but I sorta just forgot about it. Might have to see this, though the reviews are somewhat off-putting.

Four Shades of Brown. Watching this for the fifth time or so. Love it! Same director that made " Let the right one in" and " Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy".

SPOILER FOR "ANOTHER EARTH"

Watch this, cool mystery movie

Watched this with the wife.  Loved everything about it.  Watch it and tell me what is your take on the end since it's pretty open to interpretation.

I just saw this, accompanied by a pint of Seagram's 7, and was fucking touched. I kind of I suspected she was on Earth II the whole time, or that she and the composer both went after their last encounter. I don't think I can be PMed but I'd love to talk more on this.

I really want to see Another Earth.

I saw Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and my two word review is "unbelievably dull."  The fact that the cast is perfect made it even more of a letdown.  There were some cool corpses and that was it.

I agree. I also never know what the hell is ever going on in spy movies, but Bond flicks distract me with explosions and exotic women.

Now that I am missing my wisdom teeth I have a lot of free time over the next couple days.  I am renting Money Ball, but has anyone seen The Killer Elite?  Any other new to DVDs I should know about?

Stay away from Killer Elite, tried to watch that one with a buddy and had to turn it off after like half an hour.

Tucker & Dale vs. Evil was pretty entertaining, just a big deconstruction of horror movie cliches.

The Sunset Limited

based on the play by Cormac Mccarthy

Tommy Lee Jones and Samuel L Jackson play the only two characters in the film

saw it twice this week and I'd see it again.

Never heard of it until your post, watched the trailer, and I really want to see it. I love stuff where they focus strongly on dialogue. Stuff like that really shows the capabilities of actors.
