^ The Hudsucker Proxy is one of my favourites from this scene alone.

Hudsucker Proxy, The (1994) Scene

Saw the Artist this week. I liked that it was 4X3, kept the feel of an actual film from that time. My favourites sequence was the dream sequence when audio came into play, really wish they expanded on that. Best picture of the year it was not. But it definitely was enjoyable and something different. Its something that will never happen again, at least not on that scale. You take Weinstein out of the picture and this maybe doesnt even get made, and if it does, is not nominated for any Oscars.

I was rolling my eyes about it until I saw good reviews and checked who directed it -- those dudes have done no wrong. It gets a bit cheap here and there but it's completely full of laughs, easily the best movie of its kind in quite a while.

Second this, went and saw it yesterday morning still hung over from St. Patrick's Day, like you said, didn't expect much, other than a few friends telling me it was pretty good and funny. I laughed my ass off.

Forks over Knives.  Some may find it boring as shit.  It scared all the meat out of my house.  I had to make that change after watching.  I'm not trying to be a statistic.

It actually is, I passed through my living room the other day and it was on tv, i ended up sitting through the whole thing. Movies like this I always forget how much they made me laugh.

I'm on my phone, but I'm assuming you're talking about Ip Man 2. Compared to the first, this was ok. This has a Rocky vibe to it too, the ending is cool though.

But then again, it is a true story, so its pretty fucking cool. Basically Ip Man was made a whole lot better but check out 2.

I can't wait for Prometheus

Quote
Conceived as a prequel to Scott's 1979 science fiction horror film Alien, rewrites of Spaihts's script by Lindelof developed a separate story that precedes the events of Alien, but which is not directly connected to the films in the Alien franchise. According to Scott, though the film shares "strands of Alien's DNA, so to speak", and takes place in the same universe, Prometheus will explore its own mythology and ideas.

I'm now watching all the Alien movies, sci-fi after the early 80's seems pretty much garbage in comparison to movies like these

Probably the best movie I've ever seen, and I don't throw that kind of praise around lightly.

totally agree, didn't expect channing tatum to really hold his own either, but he did, and very well too, thought it was hilarious.

I enjoy the 1998 film the most, but the 1964 directed by Andrew Marton is pretty good too

It looks like there is a new Superman movie in the making as well, called Man of Steel due 2013

With some familiar names as Amy Adams, Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane and Laurence Fishburne

The only superhero movie that is good are the new Batman's, Christopher Nolan knows what he's doing. Everything else from Ironman to the Hulk can suck a fat dick.

Id say the Watchmen had its moments. The source material is so good that it would be hard to really fuck up that movie.

This sequence was easily my favourite of the movie, the use of Nat King Cole, visually it looks amazing, the rest of the movie, especially the last 45 minutes fell really flat

I forgot Watchmen, but probably because I was speaking on terms of Superheroes that everyone generally knows: Captain America, Fantastic 4, Spiderman, etc. Awesome film regardless though.

"The Watchmen" is listed on TIME magazines top 100 novels of all time list, seems to be pretty well known. Admittedly though I didn't read the graphic novel until I saw the debut trailer while watching The Dark Knight, seems a lot of people followed suit as it was sold out in every store I went to in Toronto at the time

I suppose they aren't really super heroes either, more Anti Heroes

Getting hyped for Prometheus I rewatched Alien. I've always been more a fan of the original than Aliens but I'm probably in the minority, seems everyone liked the GI Joe action of Aliens more

Did the exact same thing this week, and I mean every single Alien movie, even the horrible Alien vs Predator ones. I really liked Aliens because you get a better look at the xenomorphs, but I have to agree on the 1979 Alien being the best of the original trilogy, it's way more mysterious and scary than the 2nd one.

And I fucking love these old sci-fi movies in general and especially the effects they made with the state of the technology at the time. Proof of the amazing artists and creative minds at work. It all went downhill after the really early 80's imo.
