Moonrise Kingdom instantly became one of my favorite movies, no joke.

Also, Beasts of the Southern Wild was crazy good as well. There is no way that an 8 year old should be able to deliver such a great, emotional performance.

Alan - How did you like Young Adult? I liked parts of it, expected it to be more funny, some of the time it made me feel really uncomfortable.

Just watched this.  The main character reminds me of this girl I know.  Everytime she comes back into town she's a drunken wreck who takes out her misery on my dick, but when she is abroad she lives a mostly normal life.  She's a blondy too.  I call her "Miserable Mary."  I was supposed to meet up with her this weekend, but some plane delay bullshit killed it.  Decent movie.

Watched Shame today and really enjoyed. The soundtrack was top notch! Felt that people over hyped it on the sex though calling it a porno. The intro to Antichrist was way more graphic.

The Man Who Would Be King.  Sometimes older movies can be too slow paced and don't always live up to their reputation.  This did not disapoint.  Michael Caine's character was great.

"Detriments you call us? Detriments? Well I want to remind you it was detriments like us that built this bloody Empire"  That English accent is fucking hilarious sometimes.

Especially when Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon are arguing over who does a better impersonation.

You and the D00D have turned this thread into a horrible head-on-collision between a short bus full of regular kids and a van full of paraplegics.

Caine is such a great actor. Recent stuff, he seriously embodies Alfred the Butler. I'm pretty much stoked for the whole year for the Dark Knight Rises. Nolan, please don't disappoint!

Just watched this yesterday and I would definitely recommend it. It's about corrupt cops in Rio De Janiero. It's streaming on Netflix.

sorry if Abp, so this tire just wanders around killing people.  Uh, yep.   Netflix.  Good?  Sort of, but it's about a tire, that kills people with it's mind.

saw the Swedish version of this

it was really good.  i'm torn actually.  i kind of felt like the remake was actually a little better.  like he took the best things from the original and made them better (thought the kids were better in the remake).  but then at the same time he ripped off so much from the original.  obviously it's a remake, but so much was straight out of the source material (even down to the way shots were set up, stage direction etc..).  the fact that the Swedish one was the original i guess automatically makes it better.

but i did like the flash forward thing with the hospital at the beginning in the remake.  changing the structure added more tension.  also the scene with the guy hiding in the back seat of the car was pretty epic (in the remake)

both good.  have to hand it to the o.g. though

they took out the best twist in the original movie, something that's also in the book.

So I've been reading a lot of hype about the Wong-Kar Wai fellow recently and finally watched one of his movies last night.  I watched Chungking express...it was good but didn't blow me away.  I liked the second half much more.

This song is good and was played many times throughout:

Dennis Brown - Things In Life

Finally watched this and loved it. Was also stoked on the huge amount of great actors playing such small roles with little to no words, I can't even remember if Adrien Brody even spoke.

remakes are the fucking worst.  the original was perfect.  that movie doesn't work with american kids; the fact that it was a bunch of weird scandinavian kids was one of the most important parts of the film.
