Epic in all proportions. One of the best movies ever..Filmed over 12 years with the same cast,
Ethan Hawke plays the father... it's one of those films I will think about for the rest of my life.

Really?  Most reviews I've read said the only remarkable thing about that movie was how long it took to make, can you please elaborate on it's greatness before I potentially waste a couple hours watching it...

I watched the Wrestler last night, not the greatest storyline or anything but I thought Rourke killed his role.  The scenes where he's working the deli counter are so entertaining.

I watched that Stroszek movie too recently, pretty boring and having to read the subtitles is annoying, but I appreciate the vibe they were going for.

Just looking for recommendations and websites where I can watch semi-recent compelling movies about fuckups and whatnot.

Okay, if you sit down and watch the whole thing, in one sitting. You will understand. The closest thing to a lived life that fictional cinema has yet produced. The story and the characters become personal, I thought it was sad at some points, and bloody funny at others. There's one scene in particular that really choked me up.

Watch it, then we can talk more about it!

Don't bother. It's rather pretentious, boring and corny. Unless you're super into Patricia Arquette.

Cheers for recommending In a world... , RCB3.

Saw Nightcrawler the other night. The overall narrative didn't really land for me, but the acting and the overall build up were done superbly and overall I enjoyed it. Creepy movie. I left the theater in a state of paranoia, thinking car wrecks and violence were looming around every turn.

I also saw the latest Miyazaki film The Wind Rises. I wish they had let the emotional weight of everything come out a bit more. Everything seemed oddly cheerful, down to the tone of the music and execution of the dream sequences. Still a masterful animated piece, just not what I was expecting.

Both films would be a 7/10 for me.

If you're a hipster, watch Zach Braff's new film Wish I was here. Pretty funny and outlandish take on self-discovery in the midst of maintaining some sense of parental authority. It's much better than Garden State, which isn't saying much.

No need to take personally that someone disliked a movie you were very into. Most of the world seems to love it, so you have the majority on your side.

Patricia Arquette's still pretty hot, though.

Thanks man, I feel way better about myself now..

The boy in the movie is a kook however.

I was trying to find the words to describe that movie after walking out of it, and then my buddy made the comment that it was "the best episode of Nathan For You I've ever seen" and I stopped trying. Pretty enjoyable, but the news anchor lady's violence obsession was so heavy-handed that it took away from the movie for me.

Caught this the other night, not bad at all. From the way it was presented I thought it was going to be one of those artsy slogs that's pretty take it or leave it, but really it was a pretty unpretentious drama with some occasionally biting dark comedy. It's a good time, absolutely gorgeous too.

I don't even know what to think of this. It was just really well put together. Just interesting to watch. Definitely liked it.

I liked it too.  It seemed pretty off the cuff until he turned into a teenager.  Than a story line started to form.  I could definitely relate to some of the life stages though

Cheers, I feel that I'm not as well acquainted with Bond movies as I should be (pre Goldeneye), I just watched "A View To A Kill" and loved it. I'll watch that one next.

I honestly believe that Casino Royale feels like the most complete and satisfying Bond film both in narrative and tone. It hit the fucking Bond sweet spot for me.

I've watched a bunch of them, most of them are on youtube as well.

what are your favorites so far?

Mine are the Boston College Points Shaving Scandal and the one about Vlade Divac/Drazen Petrovic.  They are all amazing.

The one about athletes going broke is pretty good as well.

Recently watched the one about The Detroit Pistons, good shit.

The Slaying the Badger one is badass. The big wave surfer one is cool too. Oh and The Two Escobars one is crazy--Columbian narco-soccer.

I haven't seen a bad one yet.

It was pretty good. Kept reminding me of Rosemary's Baby but in the end wasn't as interesting. Not enough of a twist.

All about Steve Bartman (and some Bill Buckner thrown in).  Pretty sad look at fandom

Not a good movie by a long shot, but has anyone else watched Tusk? It has Haley Joel Osment's weird grown up face in it amongst other odd things. Kevin Smith seems to love "comic-con" movies.
