still diving into 30 for 30's, just watched this one:

Catching Hell 2012

All about Steve Bartman (and some Bill Buckner thrown in).  Pretty sad look at fandom

Damn that was heavy. I hope Chicago does a public "forgiving" for this dude. His whole life probably got turned upside down. Probably had to change his name. Screw the "curse" that's fucking stupid, this guy suffered a ton and probably still does. I hope he's happy and living well.

I know he's turned down commercials and apparently hasn't been back to wrigley since, but can't really blame him. Any fan in that position would've done the same thing.

Well I'm sure the anger towards him has eased up a little, but those liquored up meat heads out in left field probably still blame him.  Unfortunately the only thing that will make people forget is for the Cubs to win a WS (like Buckner), which doesn't look like it'll happen any time soon.  You truly feel horrible for the guy... that pic of him sitting down getting showered with beer has got to be the most "alone" looking humans you will ever see.  I seriously wanted to hug the guy.

And per usual, nobody ever talks about their gold glove SS booting a routine ground ball which would've been an inning ending double play.  I didn't even know about it at all.

Fuck the Cubs.

i watched a whitey bulger documentary that's only interesting if yuo're a masshole.
watched 'this ain't california' but instead of being about 'gang green' it was some socialist germany kids meeting regular german kids [and the gonz] and adjusting to life after david hasselhoff huffed and puffed and blew the berlin wall down.
it was not a great movie but during one scene that looked like my old squat in Detroit, a coon looks out a window [we had coons too] and then either a coon or marmot or some cockamamie mammal hops up this ladder onto the roof. that scene of the mammal going up the ladder was the best. wonder how/if he got down?

'the last big thing'. it plays all the time on the indie channel. i kinda have a crush on the red haired girl and the premise reminds me of jim goad and his dead wife when they usedta have that wicked offensive zine in the 90s.

Yeah all the 30 for 30 movies are pretty good. I recommend Unguarded, 4 days in October, and Broke. Those are probably my top 3.

Speaking of baseball, has anyone seen the Up For Grabs documentary. That one is really good and funny. About how 2 guys fight for the Barry Bonds 73rd home run ball for soo long that by the time they sell it it makes no money.

Finally got around to watching the 70's Malick films. Man, does that guy know how to shoot a scene to capture the beauty of the location. Badlands i'd recommend to anyone and has clearly inspired True Romance and Natural Born Killers. Days of Heaven is amazing but is a movie that will be hit or miss for a lot of people.

As for the 30 for 30's, i've seen them all I think except the most recent The U part 2. My Favorite I think is the Best that Never Was that focused on Marcus Dupree, but pretty much all of them are extremely well done.

And Shark Tits, I don't think you have to be a Masshole to find Whitey Bulger interesting. As part of the basis for the Departed (along with adapting Infernal Affairs) and his crazy corruption/political connections he's definitely of interest to many people who like gangster/crime documentaries.

Honeymoon. The tension was high but felt a bit let down in the end. Some movies can pull off leaving you stumped and to make up your own conclusion - this one felt like a copout.

'71, Blue Rain and Whiplash were all pretty great. Screeners are all over the place now so there's plenty of good shit watch coming up.

Did anyone see Inherent Vice yet? That movie looks like it could be the best movie to come out in years.

Yup. I got the screener about a month ago. Really great film with a gonzo vibe, though a little scattered at times. put reese witherspoon back on my list of famous women i would do horrible/fantastic things to.

no, i spose not but it's always been interesting to me as an Irish masshole. they're gonna hafta re-do the departed w/ the old guy getting busted instead of shot up in a basement or whatever. i'm curious to whether he actually was a rat and a pedo like a lot of the books make him out to be. could easily be propaganda to discredit his ass but could just as easily be true.

I went to the same high school as that guy. I graduated though. Dick Cavett went there too.

You and the D00D have turned this thread into a horrible head-on-collision between a short bus full of regular kids and a van full of paraplegics.

"My own brother a shit sucking vampire." This movie is a classic, have seen it a bunch and will watch it much more.

This movie was really interesting, really gave me the creeps and made me feel uncomfortable.

This movie was so much better then I remembered.

Wolf Of Wall Street was pretty great.

Bummed it will never be in weekly rotation on TBS with Goodfellas and Casino because they would have to cut half the movie to edit it for TV.

So...Screener season, huh?

I'm tempted to watch Inherent Vice and Birdman but have to wait and see them in theaters.

Pretty damn good.

Just watched "Get Low" w/Robert Duvall, Sissy Spacyk and Bill Murray on Netflix. Pretty good watch. Kinda sad at the end but a good story and amazing acting.

I don't get why they even bother playing movies like these on tv.  They censor everything and ruin the flow with commercials.

I agree totally. And yet, if either of those movies are on I will just get sucked in from whatever scene is on until the end.
