amelie. i tried watching it once a long time ago but got drunk and lost the plot/maybe passed out? i got a wicked big crush on the main girl and recognized some of the french actors from delicatessen and city of lost children. if i knew more about french culture i'd be a wigger but like a wigger for france. what would you even call that, a fracker maybe? socklay blaw muhfuckas.

THIS! I watched atleast 1/3 of it and loved it.

Liked Nebraska the most out of the whole best picture nominee bunch that year.

Still seems to work despite multiple viewings. Underrated.

American Beauty
for a movie involving a dude wanting to fuck a 16 year old it was really good
and the whole movie is not just about the dude wanting to fuck a 16 year old or whatever
would you rather read an abudabi post or have a screwdriver shoved up your ass?

David Cross's first venture into writing/directing, takes place in my hometown and filmed on location. Did a great job mocking small town mentalities, Brooklyn hipsters, local government, people's obsession with getting famous via going viral through social media. He came correct with the humor, even if it took place elsewhere I still would have enjoyed it just as much!

It's streaming all day on the website for a pay-what-you-feel fee if I made it sound appealing to anyone ...Cross is a genius

Knew one of the actresses looked really familiar, my girlfriend agreed. Realized later it was porn star belladonna. Luckily my girl was thinking about a different character, played by joanna newsome.  Good movie though. Funny.
I thought it wasnt just him solo, shouldve stuck with my og thought.

Just watched It's Such a Beautiful Day on Netflix

Fuck. Didn't know what I was getting myself into, thought it'd be a fun little silly animated film, didn't expect something so profoundly sad, like on a deep existential level

I can't tell whether it was ultimately life affirming or not but this really resonates.

Edge of Tomorrow was surprisingly good. I think it bombed in theaters.

Starship Troopers x Groundhog Day.

Not a much of a Tom Cruise fan but he was fine. My only complaints were the ending and the CGI aliens, which lacked weight and moved in that ridiculous CGI way.

They should have gone with the original title: "All You Need Is Kill"

Hoop Dreams and Ida

Ida is seriously one of the most handsomely composed film I've ever seen. Precision filmmaking man

and Hoop Dreams was probably one of the most compelling documentary film I've watched. I don't follow basketball or anything but this film makes a very strong fucking case for ending that dumb amateur athletics policy that college sports has. It's a shame it'll never happen though, there's just too much money being made out of exploiting these young guys to change the system - this film came out over 20 years ago and nothing's really changed as far as I can tell.

Whiplash was fucking crazy. Loved the way it was cut, I can't imagine jazz music being filmed any other way

I've got a lot of catching up to do in terms of 2014 films

Last night I watched, Afterschool. I had been looking forward to seeing this for quite awhile and finally got a hold of a copy the other day. It's incredibly good. It instantly became one of my favorite films. I am a huge fan of Ezra Miller. I would really like to see more of him. He is also really great in, We Need to Talk About Kevin.

I then watched, The Science of Sleep, by Michel Gondry. It's by the same dude that did, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. This is another really great film, and like, Afterschool, it is a very uniquely crafted film. But the tones of each film couldn't be further from each other.

I highly recommend them both.

'the woman in red' starring/directed by willy wonka. it's a bit dated w/ the 80s style film but gene wilder and his cohorts have great rapport and kelly lebrock was hot in the city before she married steven seagal and made me think her a big dummy. a great big jackass!
i was dopesick and too haggard to change the channel but really, w/ willy wonka in front of and in back of the camera, why would you? surprise ending, snappy dialogue and poor horsemanship while doing his own stunts, buy this man a beer.
you can tell how rough a place or epoch is by how inversely silly their pop culture media is [see mexico] and by goofball innocence of 'the woman in red' you can sense how gnarly the 80s were off camera.

Finally watched Whiplash and it was my absolute favorite movie of 2014. I've loved JK Simmons since Oz so it was amazing to see him grab an Oscar for this.

Friend let me use his Netflix account, and with that I was finally able to watch that Tas Pappas documentary. I really liked it. It got so damn depressing towards the end, but overall it was really good.

At least one of the people involved in that movie was murdered over it.

I believe it was three http://www.mrmovietimes.com/movie-news/the-mexican-mafia-vs-hollywood/

Pretty harsh, not the smartest move on EJ Olmos' part.

American Me is definitely one of the best prison movies, up there with Short Eyes and Felon.
