Lady bird or Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri. Can't remember which one was actually last one I saw. Both good movies though.

Girlfriend and I enjoyed Game Night. It's nothing great, but if you like Jason Bateman in general, you'll probably enjoy it.

Not super recently, but I really liked Mr. Roosevelt.  Kind of in the "dramady" realm, but more laughs than drama.  Also, Noel Wells is kind of a babe.

It went straight to Netflix outside the US I think. Watched it the other night, very very good. The bear with the skull face which made the noise of that woman’s last dying screams was fucking creepy, I loved it. The last half an hour was great as well, little to no dialogue, just great visual storytelling. Now I need to rewatch Ex Machina.

the plot was kind of whatever 3/4 of the movie but the last half an hour was really great! the visuals were really nice and I liked how they combined different elements like the bear and the screams.. Have any of you read the books? are they worthwhile? Heard somewhere that they might not make more movies out of this.. Kind of felt like the good stuff was just about to start when it ended..

overall

plot: 3/5
shapes: 5/5

I don't think I've ever experienced anything like the last 15 or 20 minutes at a movie theater before.  I feel bad for people that didn't get to see it with a huge screen and loud sound.  It was a super visceral experience in the movie theater.

Ever since Ex Machina, I made a note of Alex Garland and read some interviews.  From what I understand, he never wants to do a sequel to any movie.  He says once he gets done working on one subject or story, he ends up hating it and moving on to something different.

That looks pretty good. I added it to my list...

I watched Icarus today after I got back from my sunday morning bike ride...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXoRdSTrR-4

It was pretty good. And it made me think that doping should just be allowed and accepted in sports. Musicians are all on drugs when they come up with their best work. Same with wall street folks. Same with Steve Jobs. Same with every successful person ever. Just allow it. If people want to do it let them. There will be people who don't want to just as there are those people in all professions. Fuck it.

Really enjoyed (maybe not the right word) Raw.

I expected a more straightforward horror movie but this was interesting, unique, and really well made.

'the friends of eddie coyle'. it's older, 1973 movie about bank robbery and ratting in boston. middle class, middle aged white dude criminals. a subculture on the wane, sadly. little shots of government center before street skating was a thing.
i watched on youtube so if that's your bag, check it out.
speculation one of the characters is based on whitey bulger but it's been denied since 'whitey wasn't even white back then'.

Great movie.  Has a nice cast of who's-who-70's-crime-film-bad-asses; one of the rare movies where Mitchum kinda plays a sap.  Peter Boyle is great in it, too.  I have a vintage poster from it in my garage.

Those gritty. 70's street drama crime films are some of the best.

Just burned through the "Cloverfield" trilogy.

"10 Cloverfield Lane" ended up being pretty sick. I wasn't sure if I'd like it going in. John Goodman was excellent.

"Game Over, Man" on Netflix was fucking dumb, but it's a "Die Hard" tribute so I couldn't resist. Still has some pretty funny parts.

Probably been mentioned in this thread already but I can't get over how good the Florida Project is.  Same director that did Tangerine.
All you got is today, get out and skate.
