I just saw "The Number 23" at the lady friends house the other day. I like Jim Carrey, and i liked that movie. But that being said, if someone said they didnt like it, i wouldnt be surprised.

You and the D00D have turned this thread into a horrible head-on-collision between a short bus full of regular kids and a van full of paraplegics.

Good Call, I've seen it twice, funny enough it was the trailer like 5 years ago that sold me on it, not to mention I like Gus work quite a bit. Have you seen "Last Days"? Slow but also good.

I was one of the few people who liked Last Days. It gets even better with each subsequent viewing. Weirdly enough, the runtime of the film begins to shorten the more you watch it. Gus had a good thing going with all that minimalist/cinema verite stuff he was churning out for the past 7 or so years. He could do no wrong in my eyes (almost) - a very chameleon-like filmmaker.

hayden christiansen is a horrible fucking actor . . . and yet, his presence in this film doesn't degrade the movie at all. Peter Sarsgaard is rad.

So many beautiful girls.

that one's awesome!  i dubbed a copy of it a couple years ago, but i can't find it anywhere.

if you like that, check out Sergio Martino, Mario Bava, Umberto Lenzi, Fulci, Argento, etc...

Throw me some movie titles, I want to check out more. This is the only real giallo I've seen, it was recommended by a friend. I'm intrigued.

i wanted to so badly to like this movie.  When I saw the trailer I thought it would be the best movie of the year...for me anyways.  I saw it the other day, and I don't know if my hopes were to high, but I didn't really like it.  It was so long and I didn't really like any characters (except for queeny and the captain).  The movie ends and I just felt kinda...blah i guess.  I still think Fincher is a genius though.  I blame the script, the cinematography was amazing.

I have yet to see it so I should hold my comments but I too thought this would be the picture of the year from a few things, the trailer, the cast, and the director, fincher, being overdue for it. The more reviews I read and the more I thought about the premise it was shaping up to be a really well shot and acted movie with a terrible script/story. With that director and cast you could make a movie about something as boring as watching paint dry and it will still be good. I'm almost 100% this will be nominated for best picture by the Academy just based on what I mentioned before about the cast and director, this movie was pretty much made for the oscars.

The movie is long, almost clocking 3 hours. And I could agree on cutting some of that length off, but when I thought about it I can't think of anything being cut without taking away from the story. Brad's performance is underwhelming but I felt like that character was never meant to be much of a emotion force in the first place. Though I've never read the short story so I can't really compare the two. I would best describe the movie as a slow sweet waltz.
