I know this has probably been asked before but can anyone recommend me a film scanner that is both reasonably priced and decent at what it does? I could also do with some software recommendations as I know that having a good interface can really help to get the most out of your negs. I'll mostly be scanning 35mm colour negatives if that helps.

i did a lot of research and got the Epson V500 Photo Scanner. it was $160 brand new. I still havent used it but it came highly recommended.

I actually have that same scanner. Real simple to use, and works good.

Same here. It's really reliable and I get some pretty decent scans.

This is the luckiest shot I've ever taken. I was just rolling beside him and I pointed without looking.

Just got another roll developed today. Really psyched on how almost all of the shots came out, but realized I've got a light leak. Sucks, but oh well. This is the second half of the hike from my last post.

is that weird bokeh caused by said light-leak or did you use some camera-technique-wizardry?

great stuff, as usual.

No camera wizardry. I just keep getting that spot of light or whatever in the corner. My shit is about as low tech as it gets. No lightmeter, and the lens has always been kind of jacked. The fstop is broken, and is stuck at 1.4, and there is a little play in the lens when I focus, outer part of the lens can moved back and forth a few millimeters. It's a pain in the ass sometimes, but it can make for some neat background blurs, and multipule areas of focus.

Those look great! In some it looks as if the background sort of swirls into a blur, which looks sick.  What camera did you use?
