How does hugin work?  I've been pretty frustrated with trying to do panos on CS2 lately.

im still playing with it, going thru the tutorials, but it seems pretty straightforward (plus its free, and theres an OSX version).

- feed in the images you want, in the order you want

- enter EXIF info, or just guess-timate the angle of view of each picture

- set an anchor point (usually the centre image) and horizon point

- identify 4 - 6 match points from each picture to the next

- 'optimize' ie: computer magic

- 'stitch' ie: more computer magic

- save as a file, then crop as you like in PS or whatever

im going to try again tonight with the same pictures, but instead of using little jpegs ill probably convert my raw files to something bigger, in an effort to retain more detail.

CS3's pano is about a thousand times better than CS2's I was pretty impressed with the advance

today artichoke and i checked out some photo books at one of toronto's better bookstores.  there were some pretty good books there that i hadnt seen before, including:

andrew bush's driving portraits"
http://yalepress.yale.edu/yupbooks/book.asp?isbn=9780300136487

rachel papo's work on women soldiers in the IDF:
http://www.serialno3817131.com/index.html

and, finally, i picked up pieter hugo's book on the hyena men:
