I'm just dropping in to say I'm far to sad to discuss this issue.

I wanted to take a trip to Pittsburgh this season, and I found out that tickets start at about $80 for the rest of the season.  Some serious fans in Pittsburgh.
And I didn't really read that "Message from the NHL" as meaning a lockout, but apparently that seems to be expected from what I'm seeing here.
My hockey penis is getting flacid.

Probably about half of what you'll pay in toronto if you could ever get your hands on any.

Neither side wanted to back down, when Fehr first came onto the scene I thought he would actually bring some resolve to this issue but the owners were just not having it.

The league was on an upswing, they made over 3 bil in the last couple years, its only the struggling markets that are fucking the league over.

It fucking sucks theres not hockey

Just became an even bigger NFL fan, might even have to get into the NBA

Nothing compares to hockey though, fuck I hope the season starts by January

I just surfed stub hub and yeah you're pretty much right on.
Anyway, looks like I'll be lucky if I get to see the Penguins in Newark this year.  Fuck

That Hitmen season ticket package my family got from buying World Juniors tickets suddenly became a whole lot more worthwhile. Maybe the crowd won't be 100% families anymore too. Still blows, but at least there are other sports on.

It'd be interesting if they could do one that followed one or two of the European leagues with the sudden influx of NHL players. Probably a ton of obstacles in the way of doing that though.

The KHL has stipulations for their teams, they can only add 3 NHL players to their 25 man roster, and the players have to meet certain criteria.

Nash and Thornton signed with HC Davos in the Swiss league

Gonchar and Malkin signed in the KHL

No word on Crosby, Ovechkin, Datsyuk, Giroux or other stars

Eberle is going to play in the AHL, I thought he just signed a 6 year contract though? Wouldnt it be a 1-way deal?

Anyone know how that works? What players can play in the AHL

Ilya Kovalchuk to SKA St. Petersburg, so I guess that's all for the KHL?

Jaromir Jagr will play for his team in the Czech Extraliga

I wonder what will be on NHL network this season

Can someone fucking fire Gary Bettman already?

I'll watch the games on TV, but i'm not paying for tickets or merch for a long time.  The NHL has to earn my support again.

Yeah....I'm going to watch it when I feel like it....I can see shit picking up though because a few shittyteams in strong hockey markets ie. Canada might squeak into the playoffs....

Not this year...but what's this about more teams making the playoffs?  That's a joke right?

Im not really thinking about what the NHL should do for me but more what the players can do.......I want Daniel and Henrik on steroids first off....

fuck yes. the shortened season is gunna be really exciting because each game will mean that much more.  it seems that teams will only play other teams in their conference, so no east and west teams will play each other which is pretty different.

with gaborik and nash healthy teams will fear ny

http://www.forbes.com/sites/kurtbadenhausen/2012/09/18/nhl-lockout-is-all-about-the-benjamins-and-who-doesnt-have-them/

"The NHL?s problem is the widespread disparity in profits for its 30 teams. We estimated that 18 teams lost money during the 2010-11 season in our annual look at the business of hockey. Several other teams barely eked out a profit, but the league?s most flush teams made a killing. The Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Rangers and Montreal Canadiens had an operating profit (in the sense of earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) of $171 million combined. The other 27 NHL teams lost  a collective $44 million. If you add the Vancouver Canucks and Edmonton Oilers to the fat cats ledger, profits hit $212 million with the remaining 25 teams posting a loss of $86 million."

he increased league revenue from 400 million to 3.3 billion, and increased average player salary from 450K to 2.45 million. you are an idiot if you think he's going to be replaced, he's done a lot of great shit besides the lockouts

Bettman does an amazing job at keeping the owners out of it.....why would they fire the dude?  With the CBA being this long....I doubt he'll be in the next one.....I loved how you'd here these bottom tier goons trashing Bettman....if Bettman hadn't gone and expanded to those shitty markets....those dudes would be in the ECHL.....

Such a bandwagon thing to say. You know there is nothing better than watching live hockey. Why would you deprive yourself from that with the assumption that your protest will actually mean anything to the NHL franchises. Plus they signed for 10 years and guarantee 8 so we are going to have hockey for a long time. Get over it.
