thanks for that video gordon! anyone seen them live. i saw them at pfork fest this summer (lol) and at the metro in chicago a couple yrs back, probably see them when they come back to chi in january. who knows what songs they'll be playing by then, that's (part) of the beauty of this band, always thinking about the future while most bands tagged as 'indie' are just retreading the past with ever diminishing results. but that's enough negative vibes for an animal collective thread haha

yea taste is rad. you ever see the blogotheque video they did? so weird but i love it. theyre singing into plastic cups for gods sake haha. it makes more sense now that i know what the song is supposed to sound like as opposed to when this first came out.

yea i was at pitchfork too! me and my friends were itching to take a random trip to chicago so we chose a weekend and luckily the festival was the same weekend. so we drove from nyc on friday, festival on sat, then drove home sunday. pretty regular but it was fun haha. i saw them the previous summer too. i think new tour dates got announced, no? theyre playing a show in nyc the same day the album drops!

also, just found this. doesn't seem like it at first but yes its who could win a rabbit. comes in at 2:45. i love how theyre figuring out ways to still play their old songs but in their new style:

crailtapper- thx and yea u got it, i guess i sort of have my own 'planet xeno' around here, a sweet park that's more like a small forest in the middle of a nasty industrial town

gordon-sounds like a sweet trip, not a great line-up at pfork but a.c. ending the night, that was tight. yea i've seen that, they're voices sound crazy. i think im going to see them on this tour as well, not sure if they have even newer songs up their sleeves. but yea when i saw them in chicago like a year or two ago they brought out that new version of 'who could win a rabbit' and also a revamped leaf house with like block rockin' beats, it was so crazy

not sure if they're doing the same for this album, but for strawberry jam they did some crazy stuff to prevent a leak. with each disc they give to the press, they encrypt each file with the name of whoever they're giving it to. so if it leaks, they know who did it and will probably get a shit ton of shit for it. hoping someone finds away around this though haha

ill probably download the leak and not buy the album. i wont feel guilty at all.

but the fake leak idea is one that i actually want to try. i was listening to really old merzbow and playing around with my sp-404 and synth and i was making sounds that sounded a lot like black dice. i wouldnt be able to think of the structures they came up with and all, but i could probably get some sounds that could be released onto the internet as "new black dice ep" if i could record a couple. im not sure if black dice would like that though, so i dont think i will.
