donovan and malto played with very different strategies: malto going with relatively basic, sure thing tricks, hoping that donovan would eventually slip up on enough of them (which he almost did) and donovan going out on a limb everytime with crazy tricks he knew his opponent couldn't land.

donovan played a much better game, at least from a fan's perspective.  even when he had one letter left, he still used his turn for far out tricks, while malto played it pretty safe, even going for wenning's fs shove/switch fs shove strategy.  you could tell that donovan could do almost all of the tricks he got letters for, he just slipped up, as one tends to do when they're doing a bunch of tricks in a row.  and the sickest thing, and i'm not sure if this was intentional or not on donovan's part but he got malto out on a  souped up version of the trick malto is most known for (aside from overcrooks).  i think it was on purpose, 'cause when they were picking names, donovan said something like "i got hardflips too."

I think you take it far more seriously then either Donovan or Malto...

::) i knew people would give me a hard time for typing so much.  i don't take it seriously at all, i simply found it interesting and wanted to talk about it.  maybe i indulged too much but i just thought it was a great game and sometimes it's fun to talk about skateboarding like a sports analyst, especially in the context of a skate tournament...

Watching the games of skate this weekend wasn't nearly as fun.
I needed the commentary of the SLAP message boards.
At times I felt like saying to my girlfriend
"Hey honey, did you know Supa couldn't land a 3 flip?""
but she would've just looked at me all crazy.

"And may god have mercy on your souls." How about a nice cup of SHUT THE FUCK UP, that grates on me more and more with each new game...

Was also surprised by Donovan, didn't see that double hardflip coming at all!

Too bad style isn't judged in the game of SKATE. I think you should get a letter for multiple crop dusting/mobbed tricks.

i totally feel you. i made her watch them. she was like, how do you know what all these tricks are?! is there a glossary in the back of magazines or something. then i showed her some buttery ass monday clips and she loved that shit. heh

if that were the case, Arto would have won already, and i'd be just fine with that

how you think donovan is gonna do against PJ LAdd though? hes gonna be tougher to beat than malto. has all those standard tricks first try that malto had, but a couple more crazy ones (fs and bs 360s+ flip tricks, any stance). it will be much harder for donovan to defeat PJ but i can almost guarantee PJ wont be able to do any of the shit Donovan did... Lets just hope donovan doesnt use the exact same tricks both rounds in a row (for the fan's/our sake)

i hope the 2nd and 3rd rounds dont have a lot of repeat shit from the same skater that would kinda suck if they won 3 games with the same 5 tricks. from the footage i have seen it looks like he has a lot more... that delophasaurus, spittin straight venom in a game skate son... hes gonna be on some killa bees shit. doesnt look like the next rounds are goign to start til after christmas time.

Donovan is supposed to go up against the winner of Dyrdek/Koston.
