He seems like an old, washed up, sad, pathetic man. I wonder what more words I could use to describe him. Anyways, he's on my list of skaters I don't like. A pretty big list, may I add

yes but one of these kids is not like the other one.
plus, the day you see a Tom Green (substitute whichever threadbare, shit for brains, 'comedian' you like) board from Krooked is the day I'll burn my original copy of Video Days.
Klein used to be a cock but a sick skater.
Now he's just a cock.

I thought he started it with Hawk and can't remember the freestylers name, but someone else and he does all the graphics, as for Hook-Up that's all him.

Anyway Gonz still actually produces footage of skating and not just nose picks, which i believe Kline's been doing for the last 10 years.

Basically i'm not really a Gonz fan but his "antics" are bullshit but he keeps his "wackyness" to himself

Kline on the other hand has to pick on the less fortunate to make him feel better about himself, so i guess he was picked on at school and an only child, therefore feels a need to "attack" anything that's less than what he see himself

Anyway he was rad now he's just a dick for the sake of being a dick, Gonz gets to be cookie because he always has been

Gonz is just  who he is, I have meet him more then once and he is not "acting".
Klein is a just a mean sprited person, who goes out of his way to get "attention" for being "crazy" and not caring.

i really can't, they were both influential years ago, they both dropped one or two seminal video parts and then followed them up with a series of increasingly mediocre ones.

now they both run gay companies and get more coverage for their dumb antics then their skating.

gonz does art and klein likes porn..is that the difference?

Touche (sp?), I have never meet him and I am sure if I did he would make fun of me for being vegan and I would end up punching him in his face and he then would use his ninja skills and beat me up.
But glad to see you make a worthwhile point.

So what is wrong with that? If it wasn't for him (and Natas) skateboarding wouldn't be what it is today, he single handly took skateboarding to a level that no one person has. everyone of us owe him thanks.

It doesn't matter when it came out, it's still fresh to this day. It's hard to understand why someone doesn't find him rad. Those dudes Donnie mentioned don't skate anymore or rarely skate. That's why they never get mentioned except by the guys who skated when they were influential (and Ginonix). Gonz is still pro and keeps putting out rad parts and new tricks, and he's been doing it since what, 1986? So fuck the principle and enjoy some original skating from someone who still has the drive to progress after 20+ years.

I started in 1985 and the first magazine I saw had a Gonz how to ollie section where he was doing an ollie over a small street gap.
Now to understand what it was like at the time most pros couldn't ollie up curbs back then, let alone over a gap. And now this many years later he is still skating at a amazing level, his Krooked part has some fucking rad tricks.

I'll like and respect Gonz in the way that if you like basketball you have to respect Michael Jordan. I understand they're different sports and whatnot, but they're both legends. In a similiar way that an NBA fan who hasn't seen Jordan play can't really understand his influence, I wasn't around back circa Video Days so I can't really fully understand his influence now. Its not I guess that I dont like him, more that I prefer others.

nah, it's pretty dated.

It's hard to understand why someone doesn't find him rad. Those dudes Donnie mentioned don't skate anymore or rarely skate.

i get the impression gonz doesn't really skate much these days either, chris miller for one, i would guess skates as least as much.

he's pro for his own company, what rad parts and new tricks? name one of each from this decade.

The main difference between Gonz and Klein's kookiness is that Gonz isn't meanspirited, and just kinda does his own crazy thing, whereas Klein is just being an arrogant asshole. I wouldn't call Gonz an arrogant asshole, but it fits Klein. Huge difference. As for Gonz's skating, his shit has been epic since video days. That wasn't his last amazing part, contrary to popular belief. Watch his part in "Kicked out of everywhere," that may be his best part ever. Honestly, if you watch a Gonz part 5 years after its made, the shit you thought was just him being crazy and wierd back then, will blow your mind today.  Gonz may not have the most raw talent, but he has an eye and a brain for skating that is always leaps and bounds ahead of the curve. Its like Rodney pulling 360 flips in the 80's. Nobody knew what to make of it then, but now we realize how epic his shit was. Jeremy Klein on the other hand, his shit was really good, but its cooled off a while ago. I can see bonelesses coming back after krooked kronichles. Also, Gonz has a whole bunch of other sponsors besides the board company he runs.
I agree that Chris Miller doesn't get as much respect as he deserves, but it might have to do with the fact that he skates vert.
For the last decade, Gonz's part in Real to reel is quite good, and I really enjoyed the shit he did in the 4 star video. As for tricks he invented, its hard to say. He's really just doing his own thing. In the krooked video I remember him doing a stalefish boneless to lipslide down a handrail. I'm pretty sure thats a first. If you think about it, its an insane trick too, something that I don't think somebody would have done anyway if he hadn't, but his parts are full of crazy, out there shit that nobody has or will do ever. One thing you gotta realize though is that Gonz takes risks with the coverage he puts out there. Sometimes the shit you see of him is lame, but other shit is mind blowing. There's nothing cool about nosepicks over and over again.
Are you a kook? If you would say this, the answer is “YES”
I quit skating for a time due to piling out

i would say gonz is definitely arrogant, his company and their video are completely based on his personality. he must think it's a pretty great personality to have done that.

i think it was just a regular boneless.

i have no beef with gonz, i think he was at least as important to the development of skating as natas, mullen, hawk, howell, klein, vallely et al.

without wanting to sound too 'hipster' ha ha

word to turkey's post, just about summed it up.

chris miller is slowly starting to get some of the respect he deserves, probably cause the 'dad jeans' market has finally arrived.

neil blender doesn't really get the respect he deserves either but i doubt he gives two shits.

where's On video when you need it?
