Wait, they didn't tell you any of this at the doctors?  Did they refer you out to anyone else like a physiotherapist?

we can't help you unless you've got a referral (signed and in triplicate) to slap from your doctor

the best advice is listen to the doctors and bust your ass in PT and even after PT

paging doctorkickflip

nah just listen to everything the doc says. make it clear to him that you will be skating again..
when i broke my collarbone, i straight up asked him how long until i can take a slam with all my body weight on my shoulder and he was very reasonable with instructing me.

PT will do wonders, so DO YOUR PT!

i broke the head of my spoke once, which is in the elbow
of course. i had a cast for 1.5 weeks. could not bend my
whole elbow afterwards. and as others already said go to
fucking  physiotherapy,  and bust your ass to get it going.

I dislocated my elbow 3 years ago.

Apparently the main concern with that type of injury is regaining flexibility. I had a limiting brace and the Doctor gradually increased my range of motion. My joint was really effective in telling me how far it was ready to move. By the end of the treatment phase I had nearly full extension which the doctor said was all they were going to be working on in PT so I never had to do any.

At that point I was free to work out in whatever way I wanted although again, the joint would let me know if certain motions were no go.

Take it easy, don't rush it.
