"808's & Heartbreak"
« on: March 08, 2009, 12:17:23 PM »
I was stoked on this album, in December, when I heard that Ye was coming out with a fourth album. I just got it on Friday, from a friend, and realized why I didn't buy it when it came out. Overall, it sounds rather depressing compared to his other albums. But, my favorite song is "Paranoid (feat. Mr. Hudson)". I totally do not get what the fuck he's singing about at the end of "RoboCop", but I still like that song. Does anyone have any opinions about this album?

definitely not his strongest work. but it's different from what he's been doing and its a good way for him to re invent himself so he doesn't seem like a one trick pony. i wasn't really feeling the heavy focus on the auto tune, but it is still one of the better hip hop albums in recent years.

His songs aren't egotistical like his other songs from his previous albums. Because he chose to sing about his personal experiences, it makes it harder to relate and like the songs.

it's definitely an interesting album, listened to it the other day for the first time, but i still prefer the kanye from College Dropout and Late Registration. Those smooth beats were definitely top notch for awhile
